Outfits I've Been Loving Lately

Monday, 28 April 2014

Recently I've posted a few of my outfits on Instagram and twitter and people seemed to like them so, I'd thought I'd share them on here too! The weather has been gorgeous lately... we can finally wear lighter clothing. It's definitely not warm enough for the shorts, dresses without tights or anything like that, although I have seen a few people doing that (Only in Ireland!! Ha ha!). Anyway, here's what I've been wearing recently....

Outfit 1

Cardigan - Penneys
T-shirt - Penneys
Statement necklace - Penneys
Sunglasses - Penneys
Jeans - Zara
Runners - Converse

This is my typical everyday kind of style. I love wearing jeans and converse most days because it's simple, casual and comfortable. Although, it took me forever to find a good pair of jeans! In the end I found that the best place to buy jeans is Zara. They're always a great fit and a very comfortable material. I also think Topshop 'Leigh' jeans are very good too.

Plain t-shirts are a wardrobe staple for me! I used to think that they were really boring and I would rarely ever buy them but they're actually such a key piece to have in your wardrobe. They're extremely versatile and you can create so many different outfits with them! Even the 'big' fashion gurus will tell you "Buy the basics" "You can never have too many basics". And they're dead right! You can really build your wardrobe around them. My favourite way to style a simple tee is with a detailed cardigan and a statement necklace. I absolutely love this sequin cardigan! I think it looks so much nicer than a regular, plain cardigan.

Moving on to my new obsession - round sunglasses! I am actually in love with these! ...... I haven't taken them off since I bought them. Ha ha! They're so stylish looking and they're very much on trend at the moment. And this pair were only €2! Bargain or what?!

Outfit 2

Shirt - Zara
Jeans - Bershka
Shoes - Zara
Bracelet - Alex & Ani

I actually bought this shirt a year ago and I completely forgot that I had it! Ha ha! It feels amazing on... it's so soft and lightweight. And I just love the skull print. I'm so glad I found it again!

These jeans are fairly comfortable but they're definitely not as comfortable as the pair above. I also think they look a lot 'smarter' looking than the other ones... they don't have that same casual feel as the other pair so, I tend to wear these on the days that I make more of an effort ;-).  My favourite thing about them is the silver zips on the front. It adds a nice bit of detail to an otherwise boring pair of jeans.

I'm also wearing my espadrilles which are also from Zara (can you tell I'm obsessed with Zara? Ha ha!). These are the COMFIEST shoes ever!! I lived in them last summer and they're still in great condition so, they were great value for money! I'll no doubt be living in them again this summer. So, be prepared to see them in lots of future outfit posts ;-).

Outfit 3

Top - Penneys
Jeans - Zara
Necklace - Penneys
Shoes - Penneys

I wore this outfit for a walk on the beach and it was a HUGE mistake!! I was freezing! So, if you're headed to the beach in Ireland, wear a warm coat (trust me! I only wore a light jacket and scarf and it felt like it was winter again. Ha ha!) because it's still really windy by the sea!

I love this look, I think it's really simple but the floral jeans add a nice touch of detail to the outfit. In the Spring/ summer I love wearing printed jeans. I find them so easy to wear and they're a nice change from the run of the old mill denim jeans. I usually style them with a nice plain top and simple accessories as anything else would just be too much in my opinion. Less is more!

Outfit 4

Shirt - Bershka
Skirt - Bershka

And my last outfit is my favourite out of the bunch. One of my favourite things to do is tuck a shirt into a skater skirt. It's such a simple look to create but it's a very stylish one. I personally love a good shirt and skirt combo! I think it's a really classic and girly look. I absolutely love the colour of this shirt! It's perfect for Spring/ summer and as you all know pastel colours have been huge this year! So, I'm right on trend ;-)

I kept the accessories to a bare minimum by only wearing my name necklace as I felt that the outfit didn't really need any accessories.... I thought it would be a bit of an overkill! ;-) I'm wearing the same shoes as the outfit above. They're actually surprisingly comfy seen as in they were only €3 from Penneys! They have a floral detail on them (sorry that I didn't get a closer pic. I'm sure they'll be featured on here again though.). They're really cute and I think they compliment the outfit really well.

I hope you liked my outfits! Enjoy the rest of your evening :-)

Insta Diary #4 - Happy Days Fly By!

Sunday, 27 April 2014

(L-R) - My new bed sheets from Ikea, Gossip girl and a twister, Me & my Mam,
New John Green books, Organising my beauty stash, Afternoon cuddles with Piper,
Elsie and I taking a selfie, Enjoying the lovely sunshine, My first ice cream of the year!

Hi everyone! I hope you've all had a lovely weekend. Back to the grind tomorrow ;-). For today's post I wanted to do an Instagram diary post as it's become a little tradition of mine to share my favourite Instagram pictures with you towards the end of each month. I quite like reading these posts on other blogs (mainly because I'm nosey. Ha ha!) and they're a lot of fun to write too.

I didn't really get up to a whole lot this month to be honest. I spent my two weeks of Easter holidays relaxing because I was having panic attacks almost everyday when I was in school. It was nice to just be able to chill and do nothing. I even got a chance to organise my wardrobe and all of my drawers (I'd been putting that off for a long time!). Whenever I do a clear out I'm always surprised at the amount of stuff that I have that I don't actually need! I filled up two big black bags of stuff for charity! I also put my brand new sheets from Ikea on my bed which really excited me! Is that sad? ;-)

The highlight of my month has probably been the gorgeous weather! It's been so sunny (apart from a few crappy days here and there, of course. It wouldn't be Ireland if there wasn't any rain! Ha ha!) and it's getting a lot warmer too. I even got out to the beach for a walk with Piper and had my first ice cream of the year (nothing beats a 99!). And it's nice to be able to wear lighter clothes. It was also Piper's birthday on wednesday. She turned 2!

I just have to say how cute is Elsie in that picture?! Her expression is like 'What's this selfie thing? This is amazing!' Ha ha! She's just too cute! My sister told me that she rolled over for the first time this month. I'm so proud of her but she's growing up way too fast! :-(

That's pretty much it or at least it's everything I can think of right now (My life is very exciting, I know! Ha ha!). May will be more fun though because I'm going on holidays to Portugal! Yay! And it's the first month of summer! Eh sorry, where has the year gone?! Time just seems be going way too quickly these days! Happy days fly by, I guess.

I hope you enjoyed this little Sunday post! Have a lovely week.

Wise Words Wednesday: Positive Thinking

Wednesday, 23 April 2014

I came across this quote on Pinterest recently and it really made me think. Something I've noticed  recently is,  that there is a lot of negativity in the world these days. We all complain and think negatively (at the end of that day we ARE only human!) all the time but I really feel that in order to be truly happy we need to complain less and start picking out the positives in our life instead of the negatives. And like this quote says, unfortunately there's always someone who has it worse.

One of the goals that I set at the start of the year was to start being more grateful and appreciate the little things more. A while ago I even started the 100 days of happiness challenge on Instagram and I noticed that halfway through the challenge I felt a lot happier, positive and I started to appreciate the little things more. I'd highly recommend you to do this challenge as it was really fun and it had a very positive impact on my life.

Since completing the 100 days of happiness, every night before I go to sleep, I write down 3-5 things that made me happy that day or even just people/things that I'm grateful for in general. Whenever I'm feeling a bit down or I'm finding it hard to be positive, I always take out my notebook and have a read of the things that I'm grateful for and this always makes me feel instantly happy!

Since doing all of these things, I've never felt happier and been more positive in my life!

Think happy thoughts and radiate positivity!

Recent Beauty Purchases

Monday, 21 April 2014

Boots brought back the 3 for 2 offer last week and shock horror, I couldn't resist the urge to buy a 'few' things! My shopping addiction is becoming a bit of a problem! At this stage, I might need to consider attending a few shopaholics anonymous meetings. Haha!

Anyway, here's the rundown of what I bought!

The first thing I picked up was the Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder in 001 'Transparent' as my current pressed powder is almost gone (which you could probably tell from this post. Haha!). I've never tried this powder before and people are always raving about it so I decided to try it to see what all the fuss is about! The next thing I got at the Rimmel counter was the Scandal Eyes waterproof kohl liner in nude and I also picked up the Nearly Naked foundation by Revlon. I haven't tried out any of these yet but I can't wait to give them a whirl as I've heard great things about them.

I decided to re-purchase my holy grail cleanser which is the Sanctuary Spa Fresh Faced Purifying Wash because I've been testing out a bunch of different cleansers in the hope of finding something a little cheaper that does the same job as this. But unfortunately, nothing comes even close to it! :-( I also bought the matching Pore Refining toner as there was a 'buy one get one free' offer on all of the Sanctuary Spa skincare products. I normally only go for cheap toners as I feel that you don't need a fancy toner as long you have a good cleanser that works well for you but I decided to treat myself and go for a more luxurious toner seen as in it was 'free' ;-) Only I'm hoping I don't fall in love with it because my bank balance won't be so happy! *Touches wood* ;-)

I've been obsessed with lip products lately so I picked up two when I was browsing through the Rimmel counter. The first one I bought was the Lasting Finish lipstick in 206 'Nude Pink' and the second one I got was Apocalips lip lacquer in 500 'Luna'. I love both of the colours.... they're perfect for the spring! My favourite so far is the Apocalips one..... I've been wearing it non stop since I bought it! I have a feeling it will be popping up in my April favourites ;-).

And last but not least I purchased the one thing that I actually needed to buy! My hands have been really dry recently so I needed to pick up a new hand cream. I just picked up this Boots Essentials hand and nail cream mainly because it says its intensive for dry skin (that sounded good to me!) and because it was only €1.79! (that just sealed the deal even more! Haha!)

That's everything I bought! I think I should be banned from Boots! Haha! I'm excited to try all of these lovely products and I'll share my thoughts on them with you when I've used them.

I'd love to hear if you've tried any of these products and how you got on with them!

Easter Sunday Fun

Sunday, 20 April 2014

Happy Easter everyone!

Sorry for being a bit MIA on here lately. I didn't really get a chance to blog much last week! Even though it was only a few days ago since my last post, I feel like I haven't blogged in months! I have lots planned for this week though, so look out for lots of blog posts! I'm excited about that... I hope you are too ;-)

Recently I've been trying to get into photography more..... I've been learning more about my camera, lighting and picking up some new tips and tricks. If you follow me on Instagram you may have noticed an increase in the number of photos I've been posting (sorry about that ;-) Haha).  I got a bit snap happy today seen as in it was Easter Sunday! So, I thought I'd share some of the photos with you because I was quite pleased with how they turned and there are some CUTE ones of my niece!

My sister and brother-in-law came over and we had a small family dinner. My Mam bought about a dozen different desserts (she always goes a bit overboard with the amount of food ;-) Haha!) so we weren't short for choice, that's for sure!! I'm actually in a food coma as I'm writing this! Haha!

We also watched Frozen which I was really excited about because I've never seen it before! I'm a huge Disney fan and to be honest it's quite shocking that I hadn't seen it before today! Tut tut ;-) Oh my goodness!...... It was so good!! Even Elsie was captivated by it! She probably loved all of the colours and the music. It's a child's dream!

It was Elsie's first Easter so, it was a really special day. She got lots of clothes because she's too small to eat chocolate ;-) Although when her Granny gave her a small Lindt chocolate bunny to hold she was eyeing it up (you've to wait a few more years Elsie!) ;-).

Here's what the Easter bunny brought me ;-)

And how cute are these napkins from Tesco? I just love them!

I also baked some Easter cupcakes! Because it's not Easter without a few cupcakes! Haha! Here's the (recipe)  that I used if you're interested. There just simple vanilla cupcakes and to decorate them I used some vanilla buttercream icing and I placed some Malteaser bunnies, mini eggs and 2 fluffy chickens on the tops of them. I'm so pleased with how they turned out! I had no idea how they were going to turn out but I was really impressed with them. I think the bunnies and the chickens are SO cute! They're very festive looking!

I hope you all had a lovely Easter Sunday! And I hope you ate lots of chocolate! ;-)

Review: L'oreal Telescopic Clean Definition Mascara

Tuesday, 15 April 2014

Looking for a new mascara is like trying to find a needle in a haystack for me! There's so many on the market, I just never know which to go for! I actually get quite flustered with all of the choices! I usually end up just trying anything and everything in the hope that I'll find 'the one' ;-) I'm still looking for 'Mr Right' (I'll let you know when [or even if] I find it! Haha!) but for now I have a pretty good mascara to share with you.

At the moment my favourite brand for mascaras is Rimmel. I absolutely love their lash accelerator mascara! It's my go-to mascara and I haven't found anything that beats it!

But I picked up this L'oreal mascara in Boots a couple of weeks ago as I was picking up the true match foundation and they had a very good offer on. It was only €22 if you bought a L'Oreal foundation and mascara. How good is that?! The mascara on its own usually costs €16.79.

First of all, I really like the packaging! I think it looks really fancy and sophisticated. It certainly doesn't look cheap at all! (Well, it wouldn't want to for €16.79!! Haha!) I accidentally left it on the mantlepiece yesterday and my Mam said: "What's that nice silver thing up there?" Haha!
It opens easily but when taking the wand out, I found it to be really stiff so it's a bit of an effort just to take the wand out. That was a let down as I love being able to pull out my mascara wand quickly and easily. I don't like difficult ones!

As for the actual brush, I love it! I used to prefer thicker brushes but recently I've actually been loving the thinner brushes. This one, in particular, is great because it's flexible making it easier to get into the inner corners of the eyes. It couldn't be easier to apply!

It claims to separate and coat your lashes one by one for extreme length and definition. I think it does a pretty good job at this! It gives a light and natural application which I love.

Before                                                              After

I normally apply two coats but with this mascara I actually find that only one coat works well for me. It was quick drying and there wasn't any bits flaking off. It's not great for curling the lashes but if you're looking for a mascara that will lengthen and define your lashes and that looks natural then I'd recommend this mascara!

It's a great mascara ..... however I don't feel that it's worth the price! In my opinion, a mascara that's over €15 would want to be pretty spectacular! I'll definitely only be repurchasing this if it's on offer ;-)

Today's Makeup!

Sunday, 13 April 2014

Hi everyone! I hope you're all having a lovely Sunday! I've been loving how bright it's been in the evenings this past week (there's a grand aul stretch in the evenings now as some would say ;-) Haha!).  It's getting me excited for summer! This week I decided to change up my makeup routine to make it more suitable for the summer months ahead.  So today I wanted to share with you the makeup products that I've been loving lately.

Even though I only ever wear a light foundation, I switched it for a BB cream as I was having a good 'skin week' and I wanted to wear something that was lighter than my current foundation. I also started to use (what I call my summer bronzer) because it just gives a gorgeous sun-kissed look, like you've been away on holidays! I've also been loving my new Bourjois blush as it's a little bit sparkly which I think will look gorgeous during the summer. If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you would have seen that I posted a picture of my current favourite lip product which is the Bourjois colour boost lip crayon in the shade 'peach on the beach'. I'm obsessed with the colour of this! A gorgeous summer shade to have in my opinion! Even the name is summery!

Here's a full list of the products that I used:

Seventeen BB cream in the shade light
Collection lasting perfection concealer in fair 1
Seventeen pressed powder in 'nicely natural'
Bourjois Delice de Poudre bronzing powder in 51
Bourjois little round pot blusher in 'lilas d'or'

L'oreal telescopic clean definition mascara
Seventeen brow sculpting pencil
Seventeen trio shadows in 'enraged'

Bourjois colour boost lip crayon in 'peach on the beach'

Have a lovely day :-)

OOTD | Spring Jumper!

Monday, 7 April 2014

Welcome to a brand new week! :-)

Yesterday my family and I headed out to Dun Laoghaire to a vintage fashion fair. It was a gorgeous day! We made the most of the fabulous sunshine by going for a nice walk down by the sea. We even had our first ice cream of the year!! It's beginning to look a lot like summer! ;-) Although the sun was shining, it was still a bit chilly so it's not quite time to ditch the cosy clothes just yet!

To embrace the spring weather whilst trying to keep cosy, I wore this gorgeous 'sea green' knit with a white sleeveless blouse underneath. I love wearing jumpers with collared shirts/blouses. I think it makes a plain jumper/knit look instantly more stylish! To keep the outfit casual, I paired it with a pair of comfy jeans (which are about 50 years old! Haha!)  and my trusty Uggs. I also brought my favourite handbag at the moment which I got in Parfois last summer. How gorgeous is the embellished detail on it? I'm totally in love with it! I have a feeling it will be my 'go to' bag for the summer!

My Messy Bun Tips

Friday, 4 April 2014

I love wearing my hair in a messy bun! It's easy and quick to do but recently I was getting quite bored with wearing the same old messy bun all the time so, to shake things up a bit I decided to add this side plait to it. I've been obsessed with plaits lately so it seemed like a nice simple way to add some detail to the bun. I actually love how it turned out!
People often find it quite hard to do a messy bun so, I thought I'd share a few of my tips that I find helpful when creating a messy bun.

Some Products I've Used Up Recently!

Thursday, 3 April 2014

Radox moisturise shower cream
I love radox products in general but this particular shower cream is my fave! It lathers much better than any other shower gel I've ever used and it's very moisturising. I will admit that sometimes I'm too lazy to moisturise *slaps wrist* but I usually feel less guilty about it when I use this as it does leave my skin feeling soft and moisturised anyway. The chamomile and jojoba scent is amazing too! I always buy other shower gels as I love trying lots of different ones but I always end up going back to this because I love it so much!
Would I repurchase? Yes! I have been using it for years and it hasn't disappointed me yet.

Dove indulgent nourishment hand cream
I quite like this hand cream. It smells amazing, it leaves my hands feeling so soft and it doesn't cause my eczema to flare up like other hand creams I've tried in the past. The only negative thing I have to say about it is, that it feels quite greasy so therefore I can only use it at night before I go to bed.
Would I repurchase? I'll probably try out a few different ones and try to find something that's not greasy.

Toni & Guy Prep heat protection mist
A heat protectant is a must have for anyone who styles their hair using hot hair tools. I'm a big fan of this one as it smells amazing and helps tame annoying frizz as well as protecting my hair of course! My hairdresser even said that my hair was in really good condition after I started to use this! It made my hair smooth and sleek looking. When I first started using it, I got so many compliments about my hair!
Would I repurchase? Yep!

Sanctuary Spa fresh faced purifying wash
This is my holy grail cleanser! It is without a doubt the best cleanser I've used! It makes my skin feel squeaky clean while also leaving it feeling really smooth and soft. A little bit goes a long way with this and it smells gorgeous too. It's a little bit pricier than most cleansers but it's well worth the money in my opinion! My skin hasn't felt or looked as nice since it ran out :-(
Would I repurchase? Definitely!!

Garnier Simply Essentials soothing toner
I was really disappointed with this toner. I had tried the fresh essentials version and I loved it, so I though I'd like this one too. But after using this my skin always felt very dry and irritated. It just didn't agree with my skin at all!
Would I repurchase? No, I'll stick to the fresh essentials version.

Dove Go Fresh pomegranate and lemon deodorant
This is my favourite deodorant. It smells nice and it keeps you feeling fresh all day ;-)
Would I repurchase? Yes

Bath and Body Works Berry Twinkle hand sanitiser
There's actually still a tiny bit left in this but I thought I'd chuck it into this post anyway seen as in it's almost empty. Bath and body works hand sanitisers have always been my favourites! I love the sweet, berry smell of this one. It's so yummy!
Would I repurchase? Probably not. There's way too many other gorgeous scents that I have to try ;-)

Nivea caramel cream lip butter
I cannot praise Nivea's lip butters enough! It smells delicious (good enough to eat!) and it's  very moisturising. It works wonders for my chapped lips!
Would I repurchase? I already have!

I always find it really pleasing to completely finish products. Does anyone else ever get that feeling? I can finally throw away my little stash of empties now! It actually felt quite weird to collect a bag  of empty products. I felt like I was turning into a bit of a hoarder ;-)
