The Golden Hour

Sunglasses at the ready folks because in today's style post Spring has finally sprung! .......

Spring style
Denim shirt & fedora hat
Zara jeans, converse, denim shirt

.........

I said it in last's week's outfit post but I'll say it again: I just love Spring - the bright weather, the flowers and of course the fashion. But the thing I love most about this time of year is the bright evenings. Last week, my family and I headed out to a little coffee shop by the beach for some tea and cake. After a mountain of cake was consumed {insert pig emoji} I was lucky enough to witness the most beautiful golden sun just about to set and so of course I couldn't resist whipping the camera out to capture the stunning sight.

To embrace Spring I've been wearing my denim shirt from H&M which I got for my birthday last year. It has gorgeous embellishments on it which makes it stand out from your usual denim shirt. The material is also incredibly soft - I can tell it's gonna be a Spring staple! Denim is huge this season and there's one trend I'm particularly keen to try...... double denim. You either love it or hate it but it's a total winner in my books. Now all I have to do is find the courage to try the trend for myself (wish me luck!). But for now I decided to pair the shirt with my orange skinny jeans from Zara. Come March I always swap out my dark skinny jeans for a statement pair to inject some life and colour into my wardrobe after the dreary Winter months.

I have a little confession to make; The only reason I wear hats is because I'm way too lazy to style my hair :p So, most of the time I just leave it in it's natural (read: unruly and frizzy) state, pop on a nice hat and hope for the best ;-) And that's exactly what I've done here with this cream fedora from Penneys.

What's your favourite thing about Spring?
And what do you think of the double denim trend?

I hope you're all having a lovely weekend!

When You Have Nothing To Wear....

Those dreaded days when it feels like you've got nothing to wear...... we've all been there!

Spring outfit
faux fur outfit
tunic dress & polo neck
Leather jacket outfit of the day

                                       ........

During the week I experienced that "I don't know what to wear!" panic and I suddenly felt completely uninspired by all of my clothes. After spending an endless amount of time staring into my wardrobe aimlessly and a couple of tears later, I came across a simple black roll neck top from H&M and I was feeling inspired once again.

Even though it's a lot of fun to buy floaty skirts, furry things and patterned clothes, you just can't beat the basics. I was able to build this whole outfit around one plain black top - Pretty impressive, if you ask me! H&M is easily the best place to buy basics - Good quality? Check! Reasonably priced? Check!

In other news the weather is finally getting a bit warmer so the layers are slowly starting to come off one by one. I was delighted to see my leather jacket again because I've had it stowed away for the last few months as it was just too cold to even think about wearing. I'm very excited for Spring fashion - Denim, bright colours, lighter layers, you name it. (also when can I ditch the tights?..... In Ireland? Well, never! *wink wink*) Not only is the fashion great but the sky is blue, birds are singing, the grass is greener and not to mention the daffodils! What's not to love?

Weekend Essentials | The Pamper Session

Weekends were made for rest and relaxation. And what better way to relax than having a lovely pamper session with your favourite pamper products......

Favourite pamper products

   ........

First of all, I hope you all had a lovely weekend however you spent it. Yesterday we headed over to my sister's house to have tea and scones for Mother's Day. It was lovely to spend some time with my family. I feel like I've constantly been on the go for the last few weeks so it was great to be able to fully relax. And those scones! There aren't enough words to describe how delicious they were! My sister is quite the baker! You can head over to my Instagram to see some pics of what I got up to this weekend. I also made a snapchat account (clionahill) and I'm obsessed!

You can't have a pamper session without a bath so I lit a candle and as the water was running I had a hard task of choosing what bubble bath/bath bomb I was going to use. I couldn't decide so I went for a mixture of two - Sure, why not? *wink wink* The first of the two is an old-time favourite in the form of Soap & Glory's Calm One Calm All Bubble Bath. Not only does it create loads of bubbles but it also leaves my skin feeling silky soft after I've stepped out of the bath. It smells gorgeous too.
Next I threw in a bath bomb from Lush - I'm still working my way through their Christmas stash and I decided to go for the Butterbear bath bomb. It's nothing fancy, it doesn't have much of a scent (a very subtle vanilla scent) and it doesn't change the colour of the bath water. However, it does contain skin loving ingredients such as cocoa butter which nourishes the skin.

Lush bubblegum lip scrub

Whilst in the bath I applied a hydrating face mask from Superfacialist By Una Brennan. I have a full review of this coming up along with the hydrating oil so I won't give away too much but what I will say is.... it's a dry skin saviour! It leaves it feeling hydrated and plumped and completely gets rid of my dry flaky patches. I'm not too keen on the scent though - It's a bit granny-like and overpowering. Not good but the way it leaves my skin feeling and looking is enough to win me over!

As soon as I got out of the bath it was time to treat my lips as they've also been feeling very dry from the cold harsh weather. Firstly, I gave them a quick scrub with the Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub (full review). This little pot of magic will banish those pesky dry flaky patches revealing smooth, soft lips. It has a gorgeous sweet bubblegum scent that'll have you craving a bag of pic n' mix ;-)
And lastly it was time to moisturise those lips with The Body Shop Shea Lip Butter. It has a rich buttery texture which just melts onto the lips leaving them silky soft. The warm sweet nutty scent is to die for!

I ended the evening with some cosy pjs, a cuppa and a few episodes of Mr Selfridge - Bliss!

What are your pamper evening essentials?

Casual Friday

Ah Friday.... My second favourite 'F' word after fashion of course ;-) For today's post we have a super casual outfit - Sure, what else would you want on a Friday! ........

Stripes and elbow patches
Stripes & converse outfit

                                      .........

The title is a little misleading as this wasn't really  the outfit I wore today but we'll roll with it, ha! In actual fact it was the outfit I wore to town on Sunday. I nipped into Brown Thomas to pick up some new makeup. I had saved one of my christmas vouchers to treat myself to some new makeup. I got the YSL Touche Eclat foundation and the Nars radiant creamy concealer - Two very hyped up products in the blogging community so I shall see what all the fuss is about!

I never normally talk about the location in my outfit posts but today I feel that I need to. It was only by an accident that we ended up taking these in Stephen's Green Shopping Centre as the original plan was to take them on Grafton Street but... it started to snow. Nonetheless this turned out to be a beautiful location. The lighting was gorgeous and the architecture in there is just breathtaking!
I'm a perfectionist so finding the best location with good lighting is actually a lot harder than you would think. People always ask me why it matters where I shoot my pictures and that question always makes my blogger ears burn!

If there were two words to describe my style it would be laid-back and casual. Comfort is the most important thing for me so you'll often see me sporting the jeans and converse combo. And that's exactly what I've gone for with this outfit. I decided to go for a grey and navy colour scheme. I wore my new stripy top from Zara which I bought in the sale for about €7. I don't usually buy my basics in Zara as they're quite pricey but this top has slightly changed my mind about that. This top has the softest material and it's quite slouchy too - Perfect for casual Friday! It also has elbow patches which I think adds a nice touch of detail to a boring basic top. Finally, I threw on my Boohoo coatigan which I've already featured in this outfit post.

Hands up who's ready for the weekend! I know I am!

Hope you have a good one!

Product Of The Week: Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish

Ladies, let me introduce you to the best cleanser I've ever used. It's a game changer and here's why.......

Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser review

 ......

I found it impossible to get my hands on this cleanser as none of the Boots stores near me stock it but when I logged onto Liz Earle's website during the christmas period and noticed they were having a sale, well, I just couldn't resist! I went for the 50ml as I've heard mixed reviews on it and wasn't sure if it would suit my skin. But it also comes in a 100ml bottle too.

It has a rich creamy formula that applies smoothly and feels incredibly gentle on the skin. It's suited for all skin types but I think it would be particularly good for those with problematic skin as it draws out all the crap in the skin leaving it looking noticeably clearer. The whole time I was using this my skin looked a lot less decongested and more radiant. It also felt a whole lot smoother and softer too which was probably down to the cocoa butter. Usually when I first use a cleanser I experience a stinging sensation due to my irritable skin but I was quite surprised that I didn't have that problem.

It removes all traces of makeup and it's even gentle enough to use around the eye area. I often get bad breakouts at that time of the month but whilst I was using this I didn't even have one spot! Score!  My skin hasn't been in great condition since it ran out - So it's definitely become a skincare staple for me!

The scent was quite strong at first but after a few days it grew on me. Even though the scent was strong, I would describe it as a natural plant-like smell, (I hope that makes sense. I'm the worst at describing scents, ha!) rather than an artificial, perfume smell. This 50ml bottle lasted me four weeks. So next time I'll definitely be spending the extra couple of quid on the 100ml bottle to get a longer use out of it. But this size is perfect if you want to test it out.

Price wise, .... It is bit dear but in my opinion well worth the splurge. Keep an eye on Liz Earle's website as they may have another sale (please let there be a summer sale!!) where you can nab yourself a bargain. Next time there's a sale I'll be popping ten of these into my basket *wink wink*.

Have you tried any Liz Earle skincare products? If so, what did you think of them?
And what's your favourite cleanser?

Love,
Cliona xx
