Life Lately// School's Out For Summer!

It's been a long time since my last blog
post so today I thought I'd share
the low down of my life lately.......

Instagram Diary

Annnd relax.... Yep, that's right folks, schools out for Summer once again! I couldn't be more relieved if I tried. I haven't made any set plans for the Summer just yet but for now relaxation and just small things I wouldn't normally have time for are on the agenda.

1. Workout Essentials: Before the start of this year, I detested exercise. The most amount of exercise I got was lifting up the remote to the change the channel on the tv. I was lazy x10! But fast forward to this present day and I'm obsessed with exercise! Now, there's a phrase I never thought I'd be saying and it even got an explanation mark and everything ;-) Recently, I finished 30 days of yoga and I've honestly never felt better! It gave me so much energy and improved my overall mood. I also love Pilates, it's tough but so worth it.

2. Exam OOTD: I always feel like my style is so boring throughout the school year. I'm really lucky to attend a non-uniform school but I'm never brave enough to experiment with my outfits, I tend to just stick to converse and jeans. I'm looking forward to experimenting with my style and stepping out of my comfort zone a little this Summer. Although, I somehow doubt my Summer wardrobe will consist of shorts, flowy dresses and sandals with how the bad the weather has been recently. Sun, where you at?!

3. Beauty Favourites: I thought I'd incorporate a few beauty favourites from the month: First up, I've been obsessed with Essie 'Lilacism'! I have a full review coming up so keep your eyes peeled out for that one. The Avene Thermal Spring Water has been a firm favourite of mine since last summer. It's great for cuts, burns, irritated skin, to set makeup, I mostly use it to soothe my eczema. Another love comes in the form of Bath & Body Work's 'Caribbean Escape' hand sanitiser. It's pink and smells like coconut - What more would you want? Last but not least are two from The Body Shop's shea butter range: The hand cream and lip butter. Both are incredibly moisturising and smell good enough to eat.

4. Oreo Cupcakes: A few weekends ago I baked Oreo cupcakes and oh my were they delicious. A basic vanilla cupcake with broken Oreos thrown in and topped off with smooth, creamy vanilla buttercream icing which also had bits of Oreo throughout. One word. Yum. They were so nice that I'm making them again this weekend along with some Red Velvet cupcakes for my Granny's 90th birthday. Drooool......

And there we have it, everything that's been happening in Chez Moi over the past few weeks. I'm delighted to be back to the blogging game and can't wait for some exciting Summery blog posts! Until then....

What have you been getting up to lately?

Love,
Cliona xx

Dry Skin Saviours: Lotil Skincare

It's no secret that dry skin is the bane of my life
and it feels like a never-ending battle.
Recently I've been using some great products
that have been helping my thirsty skin.........

Lotil skincare review
Lotil original cream review

I suffer from dry, cracked skin all year round and finding good products that deeply nourish and moisturise my skin is a very hard task. I've heard of the brand Lotil before and I've often seen it whilst wandering down the aisles of Boots (what's new there, ha! #BootsAddict) but I've never managed to try any of their products. Recently, I've been putting their 'Original Cream' and lip balm to the test.

Lotil Original Cream* -  The consistency is kind of similar to E45 - A thick gel-like formula. When first applied it can make your skin feel a little sticky/tacky but it goes away once it's completely absorbed. It's a little bit harder to rub in than your everyday body lotion but once it's rubbed in it's instantly absorbed without leaving a greasy residue - No waiting around 10 minutes for it to dry, you can jump straight into your clothes! Fantastic! It transforms dry, cracked skin leaving it feeling smooth and silky soft. A little bit goes a long way with this so it's lasting a long time.

My skin can become very red and sore but this cream was so soothing and didn't irritate my skin in the slightest. It claims to be good for skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema. Due to the soothing formula, it's also great for cuts. Recently a new pair of shoes cut into my heel (fashion problems!) and it was so sore but once I applied this it instantly soothed the cut and calmed down the redness. It has quite a strong medical scent but it's not overpowering and it doesn't linger on the skin. This tub costs €9.99 but it also comes in a 50ml tube which would be a lot handier for my handbag.

Lotil Lip Balm* - I've also been using their lip balm and the mini sized version of the 'original cream' which is handy for throwing into my handbag. I've been loving the lip balm which provides long-lasting moisture and leaves the lips feeling nourished and soft. It has a creamy formula that glides onto the lips easily. It also has an SPF of 30 which will be handy for the Summer months.

I thoroughly enjoyed using these and I'll be running out to Boots to repurchase them when they run out as I was very impressed with the results. I've been using them non-stop for just over three weeks and I haven't seen a dry, flaky patch since I've incorporated them into my routine. Move over E45 there's a new favourite in my life!

Have you tried any Lotil products?
And what are your dry skin saviours?

Hope you had a lovely long weekend!

5 Minute Heat Wave

The weather is miserable today so let's rewind back to some
sunnier times in today's outfit post.....

  .........

Just a quick outfit post from me today as I'm up to my eyes in homework/study. Things will be (even) quieter here on clionahill.com for the next few weeks as we head into exam season but you can follow me on Instagram for daily updates. For now it's all study, study, study but a couple of weeks ago I took advantage of the gorgeous weather and shot some outfit pictures. We headed out to the Botanic Gardens which never ceases to amaze me. The last time I shot pictures here was during the Autumn (this outfit post) and while it was gorgeous with golden and orange tones everywhere, you can't beat the bright pink and green colours that come with Spring. Did someone say cherry blossoms? Breathtaking!

As well as that glorious sunshine we were also gifted with a little bit of warmth. It only lasted for a couple of days though and we went back to our cold, rainy weather that we all know and love. Let's just call it a 5 minute heat wave, shall we? ;-) I embraced the summery vibes by showing off my pins with this beautiful lace dress from H&M. I bought this for my holiday last year and I'm still smitten with it. Another favourite summer piece is the classic denim shirt. I love pairing the denim shirt with the dress to give a casual feel to the outfit. Topped off with a bright pink belt, a pair of comfy espadrilles and some oversized sunnies - and you have yourself the perfect summer outfit. Now all we need is the sun to return....
