Transitioning Outfit

Now that September has arrived it's
time to ditch the shorts and t-shirts
and start wearing transitioning outfits...

Yep, that's right folks, Autumn is officially here and it may be time to put away the shorts and sandals but it's definitely not time to start taking out the coats just yet. Transition style can be awkward at times because it's hard to know what type of weather to expect but the key is layering. Wearing a few light layers can keep you cosy if it's chilly but then you can easily take them off if the weather is on the warmer side. I try to avoid wearing heavy jumpers until October because if the sun happens to be shining I'd be melting {I've been caught in that trap a few times!}.

Whilst rummaging through my wardrobe recently in search of 'transitioning pieces' I stumbled across my sleeveless blazer. This is a perfect piece for the transitioning period as it's light and can be worn with a lightweight long sleeve top or even a t-shirt, but it can also be worn with heavier jumpers for when the weather is cooler. It's great for layering as well because you can easily just take it off and you haven't changed the look of the whole outfit too much. For this outfit I paired the blazer with my favourite casual shift dress from Zara. I always wear this dress as it's incredibly versatile and it's made of a lightweight jersey material that's suitable for wear in the Summer but it can also be worn in the Autumn/Winter with a few layers. I've styled it in an evening outfit as well as a casual daytime outfit on my blog before. To keep a summer vibe to the outfit I threw on a summery straw hat but once we're further into the Autumn I'll be pairing the outfit with my black floppy hat. Shoe wise I went for a pair of metallic plimsolls. These are another great piece for the transitioning period as these are an in-between kinda shoe for when it's not quite time to wear boots but it's not appropriate to wear sandals either.
