The Girl On The Train

THE book to read this Christmas.....

The girl on the train review

.......

The highly anticipated read of the year and I finally managed to get my hands on it....

A little bit about the book: Rachel Watson takes the same train every morning. On her commute, the train always stops at the lights just outside a group of houses where she spots the same couple in their house having breakfast. She starts to feel like she knows them and she has even made up a little background story for them, which she starts to believe. She calls them Jess and Jason, and it seems like they have a perfect life, unlike poor Rachel who is divorced, unemployed and has a drinking problem. The story sets into motion when 'Jess', whose real name turns out to be Megan, goes missing. Rachel thinks she has vital information regarding the case because a few days before she saw a different man with Megan. Rachel throws herself into the case and is determined to find out what happened.

My thoughts: I loved that Paula Hawkins created a whole story around something we all do on our daily commute - people-watching and imagining what people's stories are. It was different and creative! She effectively linked the characters together piece by piece like a jigsaw and it made for an extraordinary, gripping story. She ended most of the chapters on a cliff-hanger so it was impossible to put down. If you like murder mysteries then you would definitely love this. It honestly deserves all the hype it has received. 10/10 from me!

Have you read this book? What did you think of it?
And is there any other books I should put on my wishlist?

Happy Blogmas!

Love,
Cliona xx
