A New Cosy Coat!

......

I've wanted an oversized baggy style coat for over a year now, but it was a lot harder to find than I anticipated. They were all too big and didn't suit my body shape. It was one of those items where I had something particular in mind (thanks to Pinterest) and nothing close to it would do - it had to be exactly what I was looking for. I eventually gave up searching for it and as I was a having a browse in Bershka, lo and behold, there was my perfect coat that I had been dreaming about for a year. It's funny how when you're looking for something you never find it, but as soon as you stop searching it shows up!

This coat was just what I had in mind and I instantly fell in love with its soft material and leather sleeves. They had a good selection of colours from beige, burgundy, dark grey to light grey. I went for the light grey as I thought the colour worked well with the black leather sleeves. I love that when I wear it open it has that perfect oversized look I wanted but when it's closed it looks a bit more formal and put together. It keeps me really warm which is just in time for this chilly weather we're having at the moment but it's not too heavy and bulky either - which is perfect for when I'm inside. There's nothing worse than lugging around a big heavy coat!

As for my outfit underneath, I went for my cosiest winter skirt option which I wore in this outfit post.

What is your favourite style of coat?

Beating The January Blues

Tips to beat the January blues

.......

I must admit, January is quite a dull, down month. The festivities are over, the dieting ads on TV making you feel bad, the twinkling lights are down and the magical atmosphere has disappeared. I haven't had a great start to the new year with my anxiety but even though I'm finding school very tough to go to, my overall mood has been very upbeat and positive. I'm motivated with my blog, the leaving cert and looking forward to my new journey in September wherever I end up. So with all this positivity and energy, I thought I'd share what has been helping me.....

1. Home Touches: Adding a few little homeware bits to my room always lifts my mood. I have a good few different sets of bedsheets as well as cushions and two throws. When I change my sheets, I often rotate my cushions and throws and it transforms my room - It's like a brand new room! I also love to fill the entire room with fairy lights because they're so magical and cosy looking. I recently bought some copper fairy lights in Penneys for €3! Candles are also a great way of creating a cosy atmosphere and there are loads of cheap ones available from the likes of Penneys, Ikea etc.

2. Get organised: For the first time ever I feel very organised. I'm on track with my studying and I've found a system that works for me. I used to have notes everywhere and I was never organised when it came to studying. I used to get really overwhelmed at where to start every time I tried to sit down and study, but now I kind of enjoy it - even though I like to complain about it *insert see-no-evil monkey*

I've also organised my blog schedule and reduced stress in that area. Most of that was down to the response in my blog survey. I honestly thought only one person would fill it out and I wasn't sure whether to go ahead with it or not. I decided to do it anyway because I was very overwhelmed and I had no post ideas. It had a great response and everyone said such lovely things - so if you filled it out then I want to say a massive THANK YOU! I know surveys are time-consuming but it honestly took a huge weight off my shoulders.

3. Do something special: Go somewhere you've never been before. Start a new hobby. Do something that you never get around to doing because you're too busy. Recently, my family and I went to Sophie's restaurant at The Dean Hotel for brunch, and it's something I've always wanted to do. That really perked me up and I've decided that one of my goals is to make time for things I really want to do and places I want to go.

4. Pamper evenings: Are essential for me to de-stress. I've already had around five this year and there'll be plenty more where that came from!

5. Treat Yourself: I know we're all broke after Christmas, but I always like to pop a little bit of money away to treat myself to something new in January. One of my goals is to save more money this year, but I think it's good to treat ourselves every now and again, whether that's just a lush bath bomb or a Rimmel lipstick. As the saying goes 'Life is short, buy the shoes', or in this case, the lipstick ;-)

How do you perk yourself up in January?

2015 Star Products

2015 beauty favourites

.......

I really hope you're not sick of these 2015 beauty round-up posts because I've been dying to add mine to the Bloglovin feed ;-) I loved a lot of products last year and I discovered some gems but I managed to whittle it down to just 15 *wink wink* Wallets at the ready ladies, this post might have you feeling spendy.......

Skincare:

I won't harp on about skincare too much because if you're a regular reader then you'll probably already know what skincare products I loved this year because I always talk about them. I recently wrote about 6 hydrating skincare products, and I've even done a post about my top 5 skincare products

To keep it short and sweet, 2015 was the year I tried some Superfacialist by Una Brennan products. My standouts were definitely the Rose Hydrate Moisture Mask (review) and the Vitamin C cleansing oil (review). I had always loved using cream-based cleansers and the thought of using an oil on the oily parts of my skin made me steer clear of these cleansers. But after trying a small bottle of a different Superfacialist oil, I was convinced. I suffer from really bad dry, flaky skin all the time due to my eczema but as soon as I introduced this cleanser into my routine, I noticed a huge difference. It really hydrated my skin and left if feeling plump. Although my cream cleansers weren't exactly drying, they weren't that hydrating either.

Another skincare favourite was the La Roche Posay Serozinc. I'm prone to a few breakouts when my skin is congested or when the stress levels are high (aka the next few weeks, until my mocks are over!), but this is a great product to use every day to keep breakouts to a minimum.

Makeup:

Eyes ~ 2015 was the year I became obsessed with eyeshadows. I used to just be a one-sweep wonder kinda gal for my everyday makeup, and for special occasions or anytime I was going out I would put a little more effort into my eye makeup. However, when I got the Naked palette for Christmas last year, I started to up my eyeshadow game. My standout shades from the palette were 'Toasted' (a pinky, taupe shade) and Toasted (a stunning gold shade).

2015 was also the year I started my Mac palette. The shades I went for were 'Amber Lights' (a shimmery gold), 'Swiss Chocolate' (a deep brown with a matte finish) and 'Texture' (a warm medium brown with an orange undertone). I've since added two more shadows, but more on that soon..... I was blown away by the pigmentation and texture of these. And I can't wait to fill it up throughout the year!

Although, on those days when I just can't get out of bed and I'm running a tad late as a result, I love to just sweep on my Maybelline Colour Tattoo in 'On and On Bronze' with my finger - it's easy and effortless and the result is gorgeous! As the name would suggest it's a gorgeous bronze shade with a shimmer finish. It can be packed on lightly or else it can be built up to a better pigmentation. It looks great on its own during the daytime or it can be paired with other shadows for a more statement look at nighttime - I usually pair it with a black or dark brown in the crease.

For brows and mascara, I couldn't recommend Maybelline Lash Sensational (review) and Soap & Glory Brow Archery enough!

Base & Cheeks ~ I've been loving a lighter base recently and the Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser has been my product of choice for the last few months. It evens out skin tone and it provides a good amount of coverage for a tinted moisturiser. I always get compliments when I wear this and when I tell people that I'm only wearing a tinted moisturiser they can't believe it - they always think I'm wearing foundation! It's very moisturising so it's perfect for my dry skin and it provides a lovely glow. Would definitely recommend!

I loved two concealers last year; Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer and L'oreal Lumi Magique Concealer. The L'oreal one is amazing for under the eyes and I love to use the Nars one on my blemishes. They both blend in seamlessly without creasing throughout the day.

And for a natural, rosy flush to my cheeks, Benefit's Dandelion Blush (review) was my go-to choice.

A Blog Survey

Powered by Typeform

For most people it was back to the daily grind today after the Christmas holidays. I'm not back to school until Wednesday so the next few days will be spent preparing for the months ahead. I've a bit more studying to get done, but I've also been doing a bit of organising for my blog. I've been planning lots of content, taking lots of pictures and lots of writing. My mocks are in four weeks so, I want to get most of my blog posts finished before then. I have lots of improvements I want to make but I'll have to wait for the summer to make a start on those :-( But seeing as it's the new year I thought I'd form a little survey to help me out when I'm able to make a few changes.

For the next few months, it'll probably be a bit quiet but I'm hoping to get one or two posts up a week. I'd really love your feedback if you have a spare minute to complete the survey.

Thanks so much for following my blog in 2015 and happy new year!

Love,

Brands I Want To Try In 2016

Brands to try in 2016

2015 has officially come to an end and whilst everyone is thinking of their New Year's resolutions, I'm busy thinking about what brands I'd like to try in 2016. Priorities, eh? ;-) In 2015, I tried a huge amount of brands that I'd never tried before so there's not too many more on my list. I'm slowly making my way through my list and today I'll be sharing a few new products that may land in my shopping basket sometime this year.....

For makeup, I'd love to try something from Laura Mercier. I was having a nosey through my sister's makeup bag the other day and I spotted an LM eyeshadow. I instantly fell in love and I hopped straight onto Brown Thomas' website to have a browse at their eyeshadows. I spotted a baked eyeshadow called 'Terracotta" and I can't stop thinking about. It's quite pricey at €27 but the pigmentation looks like it would be amazing! I've become a bit eyeshadow obsessed recently and another palette I want to try is one from Laura Geller. I've read some great reviews about this palette and her blushes look lovely too.

Speaking of blush, I need to get my hands on the Max Factor creme puff blushes. Word on the street is, they're dupes for the hourglass ambient lighting blushes! Seeing as I'm not going to America anytime soon and it's impossible to get them delivered to Ireland, I won't be trying the Hourglass version anytime soon, so I'll just have to give these a go instead.

There's lots of skincare brands I want to try this year but the one I'm most excited for is Emma Hardie. I've wanted to try her cleansing balm for years so I've decided to finally take the plunge and purchase it with my Christmas money. Keep your eyes peeled for that review {It's gonna be a good 'un!}

It's been a stressful term in school and it's going to get whole lot more stressful with my mocks and Leaving Cert coming up in the next few months, and so a product that sounds perfect is the Kiehls skin rescuer. It apparently "reduces visible signs of stress and flare-ups", which is just what I need as after my Christmas exams my skin has been in awful state {the chocolate consumption over Christmas probably didn't help too, but, shhh don't tell anyone ;-)} Hopefully this will return my skin back to its pre-exam state! My skin is also dry and dehydrated because of central heating so I'm gonna give the Clinique moisture surge a try.

Phew! That was a lot of products to get through but I'm looking forward to trying them all {can't say the same for my bank balance though *wink wink*}

What brands do you want to try in 2016?
