The Autumn Base From Mac

Mac studio fix foundation review

We've officially reached Autumn! We've been reintroduced to chilly days, faux fur, festive hot chocolate, crunchy leaves, and that means only one thing: it's time to update my makeup wardrobe. Think burgundy lipsticks, copper eye makeup, and full coverage foundation.

   Mac Studio Fix Foundation

Coverage: I would describe this foundation as a medium-full coverage foundation. One light layer provides a medium coverage with a natural looking finish but you can build it up to two layers for very full coverage giving a flawless finish to the skin. Recently as my skin hasn't been the best I've been using the full coverage option and it covers everything except for big pesky spots {bane of my life!!}. It's quite heavy and provides lots more coverage than your usual medium to full coverage foundation.

Finish/Formula:  The consistency isn't too runny or too thick; A nice in-between which makes it incredibly easy to blend. The foundation sets to what I would describe as a semi-matte finish. It's not as matte looking as the Revlon Colourstay {review} and the Mac foundation looks a lot more natural on the skin than it's Revlon counterpart.

Staying Power: I have combination skin and it lasted well for around 7 hours on my skin. It started to break down a little around the nose and chin area towards the evening but that happens with almost all of my foundations. I have eczema and sometimes I get severely dry patches that aren't quite eczema so they can be a burden to shift. Recently I've had a severe dry patch on my nose and forehead and this foundation clung to it, unfortunately - So a word of warning, not one for when the harsh winter weather comes blowing in but for the mild Autumn months it's fine!

Colour Match: The colour match is ok - This was my first Mac foundation {I was avoiding that horrid paint smell!!} and I was quite surprised that the lightest shade was slightly dark. Throughout the day I find it oxidises a little so it becomes even darker and orange looking which isn't ideal. But I do love the coverage and finish it gives so it's worth it for those!

Mac studio fix & prolongwear concealer review

   Mac Prolongwear Concealer:

Coverage: In my opinion, it has a medium coverage which covers my dark circles completely. I don't really suffer from bad under-eye circles so I'd say if you do you might need to use a salmon toned concealer underneath.

Finish/Formula: It has a smooth creamy texture which is easy to blend. Although the finish of the concealer is matte, it isn't drying at all. In fact, it's quite moisturising which is perfect for the under-eye area!

Staying Power: It lasts throughout the day but I always set it with a powder as it does crease quite a bit during the day otherwise.

Use: I apply it in a triangle shape under the eyes with a Zoeva concealer brush {see my favourite makeup brushes in this blog post} and then blend it with a damp Real Techniques sponge. I set it using the Bourjois Java Rice powder and I'm good to go!
