A New Mascara From BPerfect Cosmetics

B Perfect Cosmetics Review

| I've been testing a new mascara for the last few weeks from BPerfect Cosmetics & here's how I got on with it! |

There is a large variety of different types of mascaras which provide different results from lengthening, to volume, to separation etc. However this duo from BPerfect Cosmetics* is quite different from your standard mascara; This is actually a brush on lash extension system. Lash extensions have become very popular in recent years so this is a quick and affordable way of getting longer and fuller looking lashes.

It's really easy to use: You start off by applying a layer of the Lengthening Gel Mascara, then followed by a light layer of the Enhancement Fibers and finish off with another layer of the gel mascara. You can repeat the steps if you like your lashes to look longer and fuller but I just did it once as I was happy with the results for my everyday makeup. This duo not only provided great length to my lashes but it also made them appear fuller looking. I didn't use an eyelash curler whilst using this and I found it lifted my lashes and curled them slightly, making my eyes look bigger and more awake in the morning.

I have a pair of Mac false lashes which I'm obsessed with - they're not the most dramatic lashes out there but they're perfect for everyday wear but they also look great with dramatic eye makeup for an event - and the results I got with this remind me of those lashes! I was really impressed with that as while I love the results of my Mac lashes I definitely don't like the effort that comes with applying false lashes. This mascara and the enhancement fibers is a quick and easy way without making a mess with glue to get those results.

The mascara wand was very easy to use and it was the perfect size for coating each lash and it was easy to apply to my bottom lashes also. The products didn't budge throughout the day and my lashes looked the exact same during the evening as they did when I first applied the products in the morning.

Would I recommend? Absolutely! It's particularly good for those who aren't confident with applying false lashes as the results are very similar to some lashes on the market. If you're after long, full lashes then this is definitely for you!

Makeup To Brighten Your Day

Makeup to brighten your day

| Makeup Products To Brighten Your Day! |

The days are getting shorter and dark rainy days are becoming more frequent. Whilst Autumn and Winter are my favourite seasons, I'm not really a fan of this aspect and it can affect my mood sometimes. I try to do little things to boost my mood during these dark miserable days and one of the things I like to do is wear bright makeup.

Base | I start off by applying my Mac Natural Radiance primer. I have a couple of samples of this which I'm still working my way through but when they run out I'll definitely be picking up the full-size version as I love it! It's really hydrating for my dry skin and provides a lovely glow which is great for perking me up during the Winter months.

I think a dewy foundation would look a bit overboard with this primer so I usually opt for my Nars Sheer Glow which has a satin finish. The finish of this foundation is quite unique compared to any of my other foundations and it just has the ability to make my skin look a lot healthier than it really is. It must be love, love, love!

To brighten up the under-eye area I like to use the Mac Prep & Prime Highlighting Pen. I have minor dark circles and most concealers cover them up without the need of a colour corrector so this medium coverage concealer does a great job. As well as concealing my dark circles it also provides luminosity and it's a great product for cream highlighting.

Sleek Solstice highlighting palette review

Complexion | To brighten up my complexion even further, I add a pop of the Sleek Solstice highlighting palette. All of the shades are very pigmented but the lilac shade is my favourite and it's the one I reach for the most. When applied to the skin it looks almost white/silver and has a high metallic sheen - It slightly reminds of the Mac 'Lightscapade' highlighter. This has the ability to make my features really pop! I applied a small amount when I was taking passport photos and let's just say you could see my highlight from space....

To add some colour to my face I always turn to my Nars 'Luster' blush. If you read my post on 3 high-end blushes to try then you'll know how much I love this blush. It's a gorgeous apricot peach shade with a golden undertone and it's one of those blushes that takes me from looking like a zombie to more alive and healthy looking *wink wink*

Makeup products to brighten your day

Eyes | The Too faced Chocolate Bar palette has a vast array of bright colours to brighten up a dull day. 'Candied Violet' is a statement purple shade which would definitely brighten up your day and 'Creme Brulee' is a high sheen shade which reflects the light beautifully, it's very different from any other gold shades I own *insert love heart eye emoji*

Another product to brighten up my eyes and make them look bigger is the Rimmel Scandal Eyes nude liner. I pop this on my lower lash line and it instantly makes them look wide awake even when you get up at 6am on a Monday morning.

Lips | My lipstick choice depends on what eyeshadow I've used; If I go for the purple shade in the Too Faced palette then I'll go with a subtle lipstick. Recently, I've been loving the Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips lipstick in 'Kidman's Kiss' {review} as it's a subtle bright lip. It's a stunning peachy pink shade and it works well for adding a bit of colour to my makeup wardrobe as it's not quite a nude lipstick but it's not a true pink lipstick either, it just sits in the middle if that makes sense.

And lastly, if I've gone for a neutral eye and I'm feeling bold then I'll choose my Mac 'Tropic Tonic' lipstick. This statement coral shade will no doubt brighten up my makeup look and boost my mood on a dark rainy day. The shade is perfect for the Autumn/Winter months as it leans more on the orangey-red side rather than having pink undertones like most coral shades. I know red and burgundy lipsticks are a more traditional A/W shade but they have the tendency to look dark and dreary whereas this one is bright and cheery!

How To Wear The Blanket Scarf

How to style the blanket scarf
How to style a blanket scarf

| How To Wear The Blanket Scarf! |

The blanket scarf has been popular for a couple of years now and when I bought my first blanket scarf I had no idea how to style it. One day I was playing around with the scarf seeing how I could style it and I decided to wrap it around my shoulders like a shawl. Two years later and I'm still wearing my blanket scarf the same way and for today's outfit, I'll be sharing 4 tips for styling your blanket scarf....

1. How to wrap the blanket scarf!
As I mentioned above I wear the scarf as a shawl: First I drape it over my neck, I then pull a part of the scarf down over my back and my shoulders. Most of the scarf should be to the front and only a small section should cover your back. Wrapping it like this acts a cardigan keeping you cosy but stylish at the same time.

It's also a great way to make your style stand out as Autumn/Winter clothing can be quite limiting because you need to wear your cosy coats and boots for warmth but the blanket scarf is a versatile item that you can style many different ways. I don't often see people on the street wearing their scarves like this so you can stand out amongst the camel coats, faux fur and over the knee boots but still stay warm at the same time.

2. Belt it!
If you're going to style your blanket scarf like this then you need the glue to hold it all together: A waist belt. Here's where you can have a bit of fun with your outfit by adding a cool statement belt. A Gucci or Moschino belt would look really cool but as my budget doesn't stretch that far Penneys/Primark have some great alternatives! I usually pair this look with one of two belts; A simple understated white waist belt or my large gold metal waist belt, both from Penneys. For today's outfit, I decided to keep the look classic with the slim belt but the metal belt looks cool as well and goes perfectly with my Alex & Ani bracelets, and my gold name necklace.

3. Stick to 1 colour palette!
The idea of this look is to ensure that the blanket scarf is the statement eye-catching piece so sticking to one colour palette is key. As my scarf is monochrome I decided to pair the look with all black and some gold details. This allows the focus of the outfit to be the scarf and it means you could go all out with some fun prints on your scarf. I've linked my top 5 blanket scarves on the high street in the widget down below and you'll see there are variety of different prints and colours.

4. Block heel boots!
And lastly, a pair of block heel boots adds a smart but casual vibe to the outfit which suits the blanket scarf perfectly. To me, this outfit is casual but dressy at the same time so I don't think trainers or flats would go well with the look. I paired the outfit with my black and gold block heel boots from Penneys which are a dupe for this Kurt Geiger pair - Swoon!

5 Ways To Switch Off & Relax On Sunday

5 ways to relax on sunday

Today is the epitome of a cosy Sunday; The wind is howling, the rain is pouring down and it feels like -10 degrees outside. These kinds of days are my favourite as they're the perfect excuse to switch off and unwind. And they're going to be occurring more often now that winter is creeping up on us. For today's post, I thought I'd share 5 of my favourite things to do on a relaxing Sunday.

1. Turn off your phone for a little while!
My favourite thing to do on a Sunday is to switch off my phone even just for an hour. As much as I love social media, it's nice to have a mini detox to refresh yourself for the week ahead.

2. A chilly Autumnal walk!
Going for a walk on a chilly Autumnal day wrapped up in a cosy coat and chunky scarves is a fun thing to do any day of the week but there's something even more special about doing it on a Sunday.

3. Go for Hot Chocolate or Pancakes!
Or you could have both like I did this morning *wink wink* I headed out for a pancake breakfast this morning and decided to treat myself to a hot chocolate also seeing as it was so cold and miserable out - Any excuse! ;-)

4. Read a book!
I'm now home, tucked under two blankets {I told you it's freezing today!}, the fluffy socks are on and I'm about to delve into a good book. I got a few books for my birthday so I've been busy reading up a storm recently! I just finished Jennifer Niven's new book Holding Up The Universe and I've just started Flawed by Cecelia Ahern. I find reading very therapeutic and it's one fo the best things to do when I'm feeling anxious or distressed. Getting stuck into a good book on Sunday helps me fully unwind and is the best thing to set me up for the week ahead.

5. Pamper yourself!
Another Sunday activity which allows me to fully relax is a bath and pamper session. There's nothing better than switching off the lights, lighting a few candles and hopping into a steaming hot bath with a relaxing scented bubble bath. I also like to use a couple of face masks, exfoliate, paint my nails etc as this makes me feel like a new person and like I'm ready to tackle whatever the week ahead has to throw at me.

Cosy pyjamas are a Sunday essential!

What are your favourite things to do on Sunday?

Brows On Fleek With Hi Impact Brows

Hi Impact Brows Review
Hi Impact Brows Review

| There's a new brow product on the block & my brows have been 'on fleek' since I started using it! |

The days of overplucked brows are long gone and in this day and age, everyone is striving the have brows just like Cara Delevingne. Finding the right product to create full looking brows is crucial. A couple of weeks ago I was sent the Hi Impact Brows palette* to try out and I was really happy with the product and how my brows looked using it.

The versatility of the palette:
As you can see the palette contains four shades: From L to R 'Ash', 'Spice', 'Mocha' & 'Charcoal'. What I like most about the palette is that it's designed for everybody, whether you're a beginner just starting out with makeup, or you're a makeup artist or you find it hard to get the perfect shade to match your brows. It's very hard to find just one product that caters for all but I think Hi Impact Brows have hit the nail on the head with this product!

If you're a beginner and you're not sure what shade you should be using to fill in your brows then this palette is great because you can experiment with the different shades to find what suits you best, and there's also a brush in the palette. Although I'm not a huge fan of the brush {I haven't used anything but the Zoeva 317 since I got it!!}, I do think it's a good brush for beginners and it's handy if you're traveling and you might've forgotten your eyebrow brush.

It's ideal for makeup artists also as you have a wide variety of shades to work with to suit all of your clients. Or if you're not a beginner or a makeup artist like myself then it's great for mixing shades if you find it hard to get an eyebrow product shade to suit you or you can use two of the shades for different parts of your eyebrows like I have done in the photo below.

Formula & Pigmentation & Lasting Power:
A good powder is hard to come by so I often stay clear of powders as I find they're not that pigmented, and I usually opt for gels instead. However, all of these powders are extremely pigmented which you can see in the swatch photo above. Everyone fills in their eyebrows differently but I love the look of gels as I think they give a dramatic result which resembles the likes of Cara's brows {well, maybe not as dramatic as hers *wink wink}. Because these powders are so pigmented it means that I can create a dramatic brow but you can also use them light handed for a more natural look which I love for early morning starts.

The powders are really easy to work with and in my opinion, they're a lot easier to use than gels or waxes. They wear really well throughout the day also; Once they're on they stay on and they don't fade throughout the day. In fact, when I take my makeup off, the powder is a little harder to remove than my usual budget brow products but I think that's a good sign as it just goes to show how pigmented they are!

How I use the palette:
I have dark brown hair and personally I find that the shade 'Mocha' {the second darkest shade} works best for me on the middle and tail of my brows. I then blend a tiny amount of 'Spice' {the second shade in the palette} at the front of my brows where I like a more natural look.

The palette also claims that it can be used as eyeshadow and eyeliner so I decided to test that out too. I'm fond of using black eyeshadow as eyeliner and smudging it out for a natural daytime smokey look and the black shade in this palette works well for doing that. The lightest brown shade works well in the crease for a neutral everyday makeup look.

Would I recommend it?
Absolutely! I'll be continuing to use it and you'll be seeing it featured on my blog and Instagram a lot in the future!

(In this photo, I'm wearing 'Mocha' which is the second darkest shade in the palette in the middle and tail of my brows and a small bit of 'Spice' at the front of my brows as I like that part to look slightly more natural.)

How To Style The Shirt Dress

how to style a shirt dress

| How To Style The Shirt Dress! |

2016 has brought many popular fashion trends and recent months saw the introduction of a new trend: The nightgown-style shirt dress. Shirt dresses have been around for years and the likes of the denim shirt dress never really goes out of fashion, but recently, this style of shirt dress has been favourited.

The shirt dress was first introduced in the 50's and there was a lot of puffy action going on back then ;-) I love wearing pieces from different eras and adding a contemporary twist. To modernize this Penneys dress and to make it look less like my night dress, I added my suede biker jacket {outfit post} which also adds an edgy vibe to the outfit. I also paired the look with my faux fur stole to fit in with the 'classic' look of the dress, and in all honesty, I felt like Blair Waldorf in this outfit *wink wink* Ok, she probably wouldn't have paired the look with a biker jacket but if you replace that with my faux fur coat {outfit post} then you'll have an outfit fit for the Upper East Side and Chuck Bass will surely be swooning after you. Xoxo
