| How To Wear The Blanket Scarf! |

The blanket scarf has been popular for a couple of years now and when I bought my first blanket scarf I had no idea how to style it. One day I was playing around with the scarf seeing how I could style it and I decided to wrap it around my shoulders like a shawl. Two years later and I'm still wearing my blanket scarf the same way and for today's outfit, I'll be sharing 4 tips for styling your blanket scarf....

1. How to wrap the blanket scarf!
As I mentioned above I wear the scarf as a shawl: First I drape it over my neck, I then pull a part of the scarf down over my back and my shoulders. Most of the scarf should be to the front and only a small section should cover your back. Wrapping it like this acts a cardigan keeping you cosy but stylish at the same time.

It's also a great way to make your style stand out as Autumn/Winter clothing can be quite limiting because you need to wear your cosy coats and boots for warmth but the blanket scarf is a versatile item that you can style many different ways. I don't often see people on the street wearing their scarves like this so you can stand out amongst the camel coats, faux fur and over the knee boots but still stay warm at the same time.

2. Belt it!
If you're going to style your blanket scarf like this then you need the glue to hold it all together: A waist belt. Here's where you can have a bit of fun with your outfit by adding a cool statement belt. A Gucci or Moschino belt would look really cool but as my budget doesn't stretch that far Penneys/Primark have some great alternatives! I usually pair this look with one of two belts; A simple understated white waist belt or my large gold metal waist belt, both from Penneys. For today's outfit, I decided to keep the look classic with the slim belt but the metal belt looks cool as well and goes perfectly with my Alex & Ani bracelets, and my gold name necklace.

3. Stick to 1 colour palette!
The idea of this look is to ensure that the blanket scarf is the statement eye-catching piece so sticking to one colour palette is key. As my scarf is monochrome I decided to pair the look with all black and some gold details. This allows the focus of the outfit to be the scarf and it means you could go all out with some fun prints on your scarf. I've linked my top 5 blanket scarves on the high street in the widget down below and you'll see there are variety of different prints and colours.

4. Block heel boots!
And lastly, a pair of block heel boots adds a smart but casual vibe to the outfit which suits the blanket scarf perfectly. To me, this outfit is casual but dressy at the same time so I don't think trainers or flats would go well with the look. I paired the outfit with my black and gold block heel boots from Penneys which are a dupe for this Kurt Geiger pair - Swoon!
