A Beginner's Guide To Makeup

A Beginner's Guide To Makeup

| A Beginner's Guide To Makeup! |

Starting out with makeup is a very daunting experience and I can remember the day I got my hands on my first makeup products. I was a late starter compared to all of my peers as I started when I had just turned sixteen. That was a little over three years ago so not that long ago in the grand scheme of things. I was lucky enough to begin my makeup journey when there were many Youtube channels and blogs to give me advice. I avoided that disastrous thin eyebrows, blue eyeshadow and not blending foundation down my jawline phase - Thank goodness! *insert winking emoji* I still knew nothing about applying makeup and it wasn't really until last year when I started collecting makeup that I picked up a few skills. I remember how overwhelming it was at first so I thought I would do a thorough guide of the products I started out with and the products I wish I had in my makeup bag back then.........

The First Few Products:

Mascara: I started using three products and one of those products was mascara and I wouldn't change that. Mascara is a great product to start off with because it can open up the eyes and when you use a natural looking mascara and apply a light layer, the difference is noticeable but subtle at the same time. My first mascara was Rimmel Lash Accelerator {linked below} and I couldn't have asked for a better mascara! The key to your first mascara is getting one with a thin wand. It won't give you dramatic lashes but it will accentuate them, and the thin wand is very easy to use for your first time.

Powder: A translucent pressed powder is a great way to get into base products. If you have dry flaky skin then a loose powder might be a better option. I love the translucent loose powder from Penneys/Primark!

Products to try: Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder & PS Pro Loose Powder from Penneys/Primark

Lip gloss: You really can't go wrong with a bit of lip gloss when you're starting out with makeup. I'm pretty sure I've been wearing lipgloss since I was about 9 or 10 and it was a great product to start out with! It made me feel very sophisticated without losing my childhood if you know what I mean. Children seem to be growing up quicker these days but in my opinion, a neutral lip gloss is a great way to feel a bit more grown up without looking like they've got anything on.

Products to try: Nyx Butter Gloss & Maybelline Colour Sensational High Shine Lip Gloss

Concealer: A couple of weeks after applying powder, lipgloss and mascara, I delved into the world of concealers. I started out with the famous Collection concealer and I thought it was the best thing ever because the coverage was amazing! But after trying out a handful of other concealers I realised that the formula was a little cakey and there are definitely better concealers on the market in my opinion. At the moment, I'm obsessed with the NYX concealer and it's a great one to own whether you're a beginner or not.

Products to try: NYX HD Concealer

Brows:  In this day and age brows are the most important step in anyone's beauty routine as they have the ability to change how your whole face looks. I think pencil is the easiest way to start filling in your brows and it's hard to overdo it as pencil is so natural looking anyway. I wish I'd known about the Soap & Glory Archery pencil when I started out as it's amazing and it comes with a spoolie at the end which is really handy! I'd also recommend the first brow product I ever used which was the Seventeen Brow Kit - I still love it to this day! It comes with a wax, a powder, a pencil and a highlighter so it comes with everything that you need to learn how to fill in your brows.

Eyeshadow: Cream eyeshadow and eyeshadow sticks are the best products to start with as they look well on their own and you don't have to worry about transition shades etc. You can also blend them out using your ring finger so there's no need for fancy brushes.

Blush: A light neutral or peachy pink blush can brighten up your complexion. The Rimmel lasting finish blushes are easy to use as they're not overly pigmented so it's hard to overdo it - Perfect for beginners! They're neat and compact making them very handy for throwing into your makeup bag. The shade 'Santa Rose' is the most well-known shade in the blogging community and it's easy to see why it's a favourite!

Bronzer:  If you want to try bronzer then The Body Shop honey bronzer is a great one to tart with. The lightest shade is very pale so it provides a subtle bit of warmth to the skin.

Products To Try: The Body Shop Honey Bronzer

Eyeliner: If you want to experiment with eyeliner a nude kohl liner is the best option. When applied to the waterline it opens up the eyes and it's a trick I still do when my eyes are looking a bit worse for wear. Move onto a brown kohl liner next as it looks more natural than black. Apply it to the top lash line to provide definition and to make your lashes appear fuller. You could then move onto black kohl liner followed by testing out pens, liquids and gels to see which eyeliner method is best for you.

Products To Try: Rimmel Scandal Eyes Kohl Liner & Maybelline Master Drama Kohl Eyeliner

Primer: In all honesty primer wasn't something that I bothered with until very recently. I have combination skin but it leans more on the dry side with very minor oily parts so primer isn't something I really needed. However, at the start of the year, my eczema was really bad due to stress and it completely dried out my skin. My skin is now in the driest state it's ever been in and a hydrating primer is essential for me! There's hardly any primers on the high street market that are catered for dry skin but high-end brands offer some good ones. I'm loving the Too Faced Hangover Primer at the moment but whenever I get eczema on my face I like to use the Body Shop Instablur as it smooths my skin making it easier to apply foundation.

Products To Try: The Body Shop Instablur Too Faced Hangover Primer

Foundation: After a few disastrous attempts with some awful tinted moisturisers, I finally gave up and I decided to buy my first foundation: Revlon Nearly Naked. This was the best first foundation ever and I highly recommend it! This does exactly what it says on the tin; A light coverage foundation that provides a natural finish and it feels very lightweight on the skin. I used to hate the feeling of foundation so this was perfect for me as it feels like you have nothing on. I love budget products but budget tinted moisturisers and BB creams are something I usually avoid. I've tried a good few and every single one of them looked orange on me and had a formula that was difficult to work with. The Nars tinted moisturiser is pricey but it's worth every single penny if you want something even lighter than the Revlon foundation.

Products To Try: Revlon Nearly Naked & Nars Tinted Moisturiser

Lipstick: You can never go wrong with a nude lipstick if you ask me! There's one to suit every occasion and whatever level you're at with makeup, they're easy to wear. My first lipstick was a nude pink shade from the Rimmel Lasting Finish range and I'd highly recommend them! I had bought a few lipsticks after that but my lipstick collection really took off when I bought my first Mac lipstick. The creme-sheen formulas are the best if you're new to makeup as the creamy formula is effortless to apply. I highly recommend 'Creme Cup' and 'Modesty'!

Products To Try: Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick & Mac Cremesheen Lipstick

Palette: My first palette was the Urban Decay Naked Palette and as much as I love it, it wasn't an ideal first eyeshadow palette. It mostly contains shimmer shades and a good few of the shades were a bit too dramatic for me back then. I wish the Pippa Palette was around a few years ago as it would've been the best palette to begin with. It houses 6 matte neutral eyeshadows, a blush, a bronzer and a highlighter so it has everything a beginner needs from eyeshadows to complexion powders.

Products To Try: The Pippa Palette by Blank Canvas

An Underrated Mac Lipstick

Mac Aim For Gorgeous Lipstick Review

| An Underrated Mac Lipstick That I've Been Loving Recently! |

I love Mac lipsticks, they're a classic and I don't think you could ever own too many! 2016 was the year I experimented with bright lips that aren't red or berry. Until now I had never tried a fuschia pink lipstick - I know, crazy! I don't know what I was afraid of because it's surprisingly easy to wear! I had originally wanted to pick up Impassioned but it wasn't in stock so I went for 'Aim For Gorgeous' instead and I'm so glad I did because this lipstick is seriously underrated in the blogging world..........

The shade is a bright fuschia with blue undertones and it has a matte finish. I've never had a statement shade from Mac that's been disappointing in the colour pay-off department and this lipstick is no exception. The formula isn't drying at all and in fact, it actually feels slightly creamier than Mac Tropic Tonic - Another favourite bright matte lippy! It's very comfortable to wear and it doesn't budge until I eat a meal. It breaks down around the centre of the lips whenever I eat a meal but stays in place around the edges. It doesn't wear off if I have a small snack or tea etc. The shade won't be for everyone but it's an easy to wear fuschia shade so if you've been wanting to try a bright fuschia lipstick this is a great one to go for!

Top 5 Lipstick & Lipliner Combinations

Top 5 lipsticks & lipliners blog post

| Top 5 Lipstick & Lipliner Combinations! |

Lipstick is my favourite makeup item and I don't think I could ever own too many. Each lipstick shade and formula are so unique with different brands. My all-time favourite lipstick formula is the Nars lip pencils and that's why they're so heavily featured in this post - Oops! I didn't realise that most of my top 5 lipsticks consisted of them but that's just how good they are! Finding a good liner to match my lipstick is like icing on top of a cake, so today I'll be sharing my favourite lipstick and lipliner combinations......

1. Nars 'Cruella' Velvet Matte Lip Pencil & PS Red Lipliner:
First up is a statement red which will be an essential for the upcoming festive season! Before my birthday I hadn't worn a red lip since last Christmas! I forgot how much I loved them and this was the perfect lipstick to get me back into them. The shape of the pencils are so easy to use and it's less messy to apply. Sometimes with a bright shade like this, it can be easy to make a mistake especially when you're a beginner or not that confident with makeup. All of the Nars pencils that I own are matte but they're not that overly drying type of matte that you get sometimes {Mac Retro Matte, I'm looking at you!} It lasts well throughout the day too! I usually pair it with the 'Red' lipliner from Penneys/Primark. It's cheap but cheerful and it works well. I don't think that an expensive lipliner is essential as budget alternatives work just as well. I love treating myself to a high-end lipliner every now and then but for a red shade that I don't wear on a daily basis something cheap works brilliantly.

Nars cruella lip pencil review

2. Nars 'Bettina' Velvet Matte Lip Pencil & Essence 'Satin Mauve' Lipliner:
This lip pencil is a more subtle option than the one mentioned above. It's a neutral beige shade with a slight wash of pink in it. This is the perfect everyday fuss-free lip shade and it works well with any kind of makeup look! It doesn't last as long as the red one or the one that I'll talk about further in the post purely because the colour is lighter than both of them. I usually pair the lipstick with the essence liner. It's a beautiful mauve shade with light berry undertones in it. The two shades aren't a perfect match but they compliment each other well.

3. Mac 'Brave' Lipstick & Mac 'Soar' Lipliner:
This combination has been a classic in the blogging community ever since it was deemed 'the Kylie Jenner lip'. It's a pinky beige colour with a satin finish. The colour is quite deep so it lasts fairly well considering it has a satin finish. The liner is a dark brown-toned nude and it's a lot darker than the lipstick but as you can see in the photo below they blend together nicely.

Mac Brave Lipstick & Soar Liner review

4. Kiko Gossamer Emotion Creamy Lipstick in shade 102 & Kiko Creamy Colour Comfort Lip Liner in shade 303 {Review}:
This lipstick is one of my favourite type of lipstick shades: A muted nude pink. The liner is a much darker nude shade but it compliments the lipstick well. The two shades blend together nicely and make the lips appear slightly plumper, especially the bottom lip. As you can see from the photo below, the pigmentation of the lipstick is incredible and the shade flatters my pale skin.

Kiko lipstick & liner review

5. Nars 'Sex Machine' Velvet Matte Lip Pencil & Rimmel Exaggerate Lipliner in 'Eastend Snob':
This lipstick is a pink mauve shade {are you sensing a theme? *wink wink*} and just like the other two Nars lip pencils this is pigmented, creamy and easy to apply. Because the colour of this is quite brighter than Bettina, I find it lasts much longer on the lips. The shade is slightly similar to Brave and paired with the darker liner it provides similar results of plump, fuller looking lips. I usually pair it with the Rimmel liner which is said to be a dupe for Mac Soar. They are pretty similar and I also love pairing this liner with Mac Brave as I think it provides the same results. I do find that the Mac one lasts a little bit longer so if I have a busy day where I don't really have time to reapply lipliner I'll go for the Mac option. But other than that they look identical and provide similar results. Is there anything better than a good dupe?

What's your favourite lipstick & lipliner combination?

Christmas Gift Guide Part 2: Gifts For Makeup Lovers

Tuesday, 22 November 2016

Luxury makeup gift ideas

We're back for round two of the Christmas gift guides here on ClionaHill.com. Just like the first instalment of my gift guides I'll be sharing my favourite makeup products that I use on an everyday basis and that I think would be the perfect gift for any makeup lover in your life....

Luxury Makeup:
If you read my review of the Hourglass Surreal Light Palette then it'll probably come as no surprise that it's being featured in this post. It's very pricey at a whopping €75 but if you're after a luxurious palette then this is the product for you. It houses 5 complexion powders; 1 setting powder, 2 blushers, a strobing powder and a highlighter. This is the perfect palette if you're always applying your makeup on the go i.e on the way to work or school. It's definitely one to hint your partner for *insert winking emoji*

If the Hourglass palette isn't up your street then another cheek option is the Becca Champagne Pop Highlighter {Review}. This the best highlighter EVER and rightly so because the pigmentation is just out of this world! The gorgeous peachy shade with golden undertones is the perfect shade to create a strong highlight. This one costs €38 and you can get it in Space NK on Grafton Street. It's definitely worth the pennies!

I'm always recommending the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencils to people as they're the best lipstick formula in my opinion! I have three in my collection but I've just ordered the lip pencil set that they've released for Christmas from Feel Unique so I'm still waiting for the postman to pop that through my letterbox. The three shades I currently own are Bettina, Sex Machine and Cruella and I highly recommend them all!

Another lipstick favourite is the Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Lipstick in 'Kidman's Kiss' {Review}. This was my first Charlotte Tilbury lipstick and I was blown away by the quality! The shade I have is a gorgeous peachy pink shade so it subtly brightens up my makeup look. I'm obsessed with everything about this from the rose gold packaging to the intricate details to how well the product itself works. This little piece of luxury would be any makeup lovers dream to wake up to on Christmas morning.

Nars Eyeshadow Duos are another great luxury option! The quality of the shadows are incredible, they blend really easily and the pigmentation is spot on! I have St-Paul-De-Vence which is made up of a beautiful rose gold pink shade and a matte brown. Personally, I would be delighted to see one of these under my tree on December 25th!

Another great option for eyeshadow lovers is the famous Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita Quad. The shades in the palette are perfect for the festive season and would be lovely for any Christmas/New Year's parties you have coming up. It contains a beautiful coppery shade, a dark shimmery brown, a highlight shade and a glittery gold.

High-end Makeup Gift Ideas:
The next few products are a great selection of good quality makeup products but they're not as luxurious as the products mentioned above. They're still quite pricey but a little bit more affordable than the other options so if you want to treat someone to something high-end but you want to get more for your money then this is the round-up for you......

There has been a lot of amazing Christmas releases from brands this year but my favourite has to be the Benefit Blushin' Babe Set. It contains five of their famous box o' powders - Dandelion, Sugarbomb, Rockateur, Coralista & Hoola - as well as a sample of the watts up highlighter, a mini they're real mascara and a mini they're real push-up liner. This is a great way to try out a few Benefit products to see if you like them and plus, I probably won't need to repurchase the full-size powders anytime soon because I have so many blushes and bronzers that I rotate between so they'll probably last me at least a few years!

For my birthday, I got the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette and I've been obsessed with it! It has the perfect variety of shades from everyday wearable neutrals to a few statement shades for your evening makeup. My favourite way to use the palette is to create a spotlight eye but I also like running one of the matte brown shades in my crease for a quick natural everyday look. If you know someone who is obsessed with their eyeshadows then you need to pick this palette up for them!

Another eyeshadow favourite is the Rosie For Autograph quad in 'Copper Gold Rush'. The shadows feel smooth, are easy to blend and the colour range is subtle but you can build them up also. The shades in this palette are perfect to create every type of look from subtle to dramatic. These quads are perfect if you're a beginner also as you have all the shades you need and they're very easy to use. And not to mention the stunning rose gold packaging *insert love heart eye emoji*

I recently bought The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer highlighter and it's become one of my top 5 highlighters! It's a stunning golden, champagne colour and the pigmentation is incredible! It's kinda like a toned down version of Becca Champagne Pop except the Becca version is a little bit more peachy looking. It's €18 cheaper than Becca so if you want something that's just as good in the pigmentation department then this is for you!

Mac Lipsticks are another great option for a high-end present. They're not as costly as some other high-end lipsticks and they're perfect for everybody whether you're a makeup beginner or a makeup artist. Plus you can never have too many Mac lippies in my opinion! My top shades are 'Modesty', 'Brave' and 'Creme Cup' - all perfect subtle neutral shades!

Christmas Gift Guide Part 1: Stocking Fillers

Gift Guide - Stocking Fillers

| Part One Of My 2016 Christmas Gift Guides! |

Personally, I love Christmas gift guide posts because when you have 100 different people to buy for, it can get overwhelming so any inspiration is welcome in my book. I was debating whether to post a few because after all, I love Christmas so why not milk it? *wink wink* In the end, I decided to just do two beauty gift guides instead of a few different themed ones like lifestyle and fashion as at the end of the day I'd say my main passion is makeup. So there'll be two gift guide posts this week and there's everything in them from stocking fillers to gifts for the makeup lover in your family to a few luxe picks! Grab a festive drink, light a Christmas candle and stick on some Christmas pjs because things are about to get Christmassy on ClionaHill.com.........

Stocking Fillers:
First up are a few products that would be a lovely stocking filler or if you're on a budget these are also some great options. Personally, I don't spend too much on anyone other than my Mam because I'm not working so this price range is perfect for me!

For my birthday I received a cute little Soap & Glory Christmas gift set that came with a mini Hand Food hand cream and a mini Heel Genius foot cream. I already have a full-size version of the hand cream and it's one of my all-time favourite hand creams! However, it can be a little harsh on my eczema and when my hands are severely dry so I tend to only use it during a pamper session. The foot cream is also amazing for the cold weather. And all in all a mini Soap & Glory set like this would be a great present to find buried in your stocking.

Another pamper treat that be lovely to receive as a gift is any of the Lush bath bombs. I especially love the Bubble Bars, 'the comforter' being my favourite. They have an extensive range of new Christmas releases, and who doesn't love a festive bath over the holidays? Whether you're a beauty lover or not, I'm sure everyone likes to unwind in the bath every now and then.

For the last few months the Zoella Bath Latte has been my favourite bubble bath, and in fact, I think it deserves the title of the best bubble bath ever! It creates a large volume of bubbles with only a small amount of product and it makes my skin feel really soft too. You don't have to be a Zoella fan to love this product as the stunning packaging and the quality of the product is amazing!

Last Christmas I got the Nuxe Reve De Miel lip balm in my stocking and I've been obsessed with it ever since! This thick lip balm is a life saver during the winter months and it smells amazing too!

Every beauty lover loves nail polish and my two favourite brands are Essie and Sosu by Suzanne Jackson. Both brands offer a wide range of shades so there's something to suit everyone!

I'm obsessed with Mac eyeshadows and when you buy a custom palette it works out cheaper than buying them separately. I always ask family and friends to buy them for me as they're as cheap as some affordable brands. The Pro Refill Pans used to cost €10 in Brown Thomas but I noticed recently that they've been reduced to just €7!! Bargain alert!

Lastly is another makeup favourite of mine: Sleek Solstice Highlighter palette. The pigmentation of this palette is mind-blowingly good and the shades are really unique compared to other highlighters I have in my collection. The palette is cheap but cheerful and it's the perfect size to fit in a stocking!

A Few High-End Makeup Picks I've Been Lusting After:

There have been so many great Christmas releases this year so I thought I'd share a couple of gift sets and a few other new releases that are on my wish list....

First up are a few bits from The Loop. If any of you are going away or flying home for Christmas then this is a great option for you. A few years ago I headed to New York for Christmas and I picked up a few bargains in The Loop so I'd highly recommend it if you're heading to the airport this year. You can shop online and then collect it when you're there so that's a really handy service!

The Clarins Lovely Lip Balm Duo looks lovely {excuse the pun *wink wink*} and you can never have too many lip balms in my opinion! I love receiving luxurious lip balms for Christmas as you'd feel bad treating yourself to them but they're perfect to add your Christmas list. I've used a couple of Clarins skincare products before and I loved them so I'd say this would be really nice too.

I've been eyeing up Jo Malone products for ages now and I'm so tempted to treat myself! I've smelt the wood sage and sea salt perfume in store before and I love it so this gift set would be perfect!

Another lovely gift set from The Loop is the Molton Brown Orange & Bergamot Cracker. Beauty crackers are such a fun idea and I can only imagine how nice this range smells!

There are also a good few things from House of Fraser that I've been lusting after!

First up we have the Urban Decay Ultimate Basics Palette and this is on my Christmas wish list so hopefully it somehow makes it's way underneath my tree *insert winking face emoji* I love the wide range of neutral shades and the packaging is rose gold - Need I say more?

Another 2016 release was the Nars Velvet Lip Glides and I've only heard good things about them! They're supposed to be like a lip gloss / liquid lipstick hybrid so apparently, they're extremely comfortable to wear but they also offer a great colour payoff. They sound amazing to me and I can't wait to get my hands on one!

Charlotte Tilbury has released a cute little gift set called the Legendary Eyes Set which contains a mini mascara and a mini eyeliner. I think this is a great way to try out their products before buying the full-size version. And not to mention it would look really cute hanging on your Christmas tree!

What's on your Christmas wish list this year?

Cliona xx

The Minimal Makeup Routine

The minimal makeup routine

| The Minimal Makeup Routine! |

I'm a big fan of fresh, natural looking makeup and it's the look I tend to opt for on a day-to-day basis. Every now and then I like to sit down and play around with my makeup stash and that's usually when I go for a more dramatic look like the one I created with the Morphe 35p palette. But unfortunately, I just don't have the time or the energy to do that every day so these fuss-free products are usually what I reach for when I have a long to-do list to tackle......

Base:
I always start off with a hydrating primer and if you read my Debenhams beauty haul then you'll know that I've been loving the Too Faced Hangover Primer. It provides hydration and leaves a smooth base for your foundation application. This is one of the best hydrating primers I've tried so far and it's a must have in your makeup bag if you suffer from dry skin.

I've been using a new foundation recently: Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder. It provides a gorgeous luminous finish and makes my skin look really healthy. As you can probably guess from the name, the coverage is quite sheer which isn't the best for my problematic skin. However, to solve that problem I like to apply two layers of the foundation as well as concentrating a full coverage concealer in the areas that I need to.

Complexion:
To achieve a healthy looking complexion I've been reaching for the Hourglass Surreal Light palette {review}. Each of the light-reflecting powders provides a subtle radiant finish to the skin making it the perfect palette for my everyday minimal makeup routine. The blush 'Surreal Effect' is easily my favourite and I also love the strobing powder. It's certainly a swoon-worthy palette!

Eyes & Brows:
Moving onto brows and the most used product in my everyday makeup stash is the Hi Impact Brows palette* {review} This is a great product for creating a simple everyday brow. The pigmentation of all of the powders is incredible so it's easy to work with, whether you like a subtle brow or a strong brow.

I like to keep my eyeshadow very simple and understated on a daily basis so I often reach for my Nars eyeshadow duo in St-Paul-De-Vence. This eyeshadow duo houses a pale, almost rose gold pink shade and a matte brown. The light neutral shades are the perfect fuss-free hues that look subtle on the eyes. I'm obsessed with it and I have a long list of some other eyeshadow duos that I want to try in the future!

To finish off my eye makeup I like to apply the L'oreal Telescopic Extra Black Mascara* {review}. The extra black formula defines my lashes like no other and the formula separates them really well to provide a long fluttery effect. Love!

Lips:
And lastly is the lips! Some people like to say "give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world", but I like to say "give a girl the right lipstick and she can conquer the world". My perfect everyday lipstick shade is Mac Creme Cup which is a pale baby pink shade. It provides a subtle wash of pink colour to the lips and the cremesheen finish is kind to my dry, chapped winter lips. It's a staple in my nude lipstick collection!

The Blogger Made Me Buy It!

Wednesday, 16 November 2016

The blogger made me buy it blog post

| 7 Products That Beauty Bloggers Enabled Me To Buy! |

Every now and then hype arises around certain products in the blogging community and almost every beauty blogger goes mad for it! I'll raise my hand and admit that I've jumped on the bandwagon several times and bought hyped-up products. The most recently hyped up product that I caved in and bought was the Hourglass Surreal Light palette {review} but I wasn't disappointed! As I was planning that blog post I made the decision to take part in 'The Blogger Made Me Buy It' tag so I could share a few products that I bought based on a blogger's recommendation as well as a few products that were hyped-up amongst the blogging world.

1. Urban Decay Naked Palette:
This is probably the most famous eyeshadow palette, not just in the blogging community, but in the whole world! Everyone knows about the UD Naked palettes, even boyfriends and husbands *wink wink* so it probably comes as no surprise to you that I'm featuring it in today's post. This classic palette has a wide range of shimmer shades as well as two matte shades. I haven't actually used this palette in a while because I've been having an affair with matte shades but as soon as I'm in a shimmery mood, which will most likely be next month, I'll be reaching for this palette again. It has some gorgeous neutral shades that are great for everyday wear as well as a few darker shades for an evening look. My top three shades in the palette are 'Half-Baked', 'Sidecar' and 'Toasted' *insert love heart eye emoji*

2. Mac 'Copper Sparkle' Pigment:
I saw a few people talking about this on Snapchat and I thought it was the most beautiful pigment I've ever seen - After all, you know how much I'm obsessed with all things copper so any makeup product with the word copper in the name is going to be on my wish list! As the name suggests it's a sparkly copper pigment and it looks amazing with most brown and gold looks. You need to add this to your collection before the festive season kicks off!

The blogger made me buy it blog post

3. Charlotte Tilbury 'The Dolce Vita' palette:
This has been one of my "go-to" eyeshadow palettes recently purely because it's so simple and quick to use. For my everyday makeup, I blend the coppery shade all over the lid, pop a little bit of the dark brown shade in the outer corner and a bit of the highlight shade on the inner corners. Although all of the shades in the quad are shimmery I don't find the need to use a matte shade as the shimmer is quite subtle in the coppery shade as well as the dark brown shade. Each of the shadows is smooth, buttery, and a dream to blend out - It's a fool proof palette and it would be perfect for the festive season whether you're a makeup expert or novice!

This highlighter needs no introduction as I'm sure every makeup lover has heard about it at this stage. It's a peachy golden highlight shade which packs a serious punch to the skin! I'm always raving about this as it's the best highlighter on the market in my opinion! It is pricey but 100% worth it if you ask me!

5. Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser:
This is easily my all-time favourite tinted moisturiser! The coverage is amazing for a tinted moisturiser and it provides a fresh, dewy finish whilst keeping the skin feeling hydrated. It covers my scarring and imperfections much better than any other tinted moisturiser or BB cream I've tried. I also find that a little bit of this goes a really long way so it always lasts me a good while and it has SPF 30 in it, so you don't need to worry about using a separate product for your daily dose of SPF.

6. Mac 'Warm Soul' Mineralize Blush {Review}:
I actually saw this blush featured a couple of times on Mollie's blog and it looked gorgeous so I just had to try it out for myself. And I wasn't disappointed! This peachy pink shade with rosy undertones is the perfect companion in your everyday makeup bag. The frosted finish with golden shimmer provides a lovely subtle sheen to the skin.

7. The Pippa Palette {Review}:
If you read my review of this then you'll already know how much I love it! Of course this purchase was enabled by a blogger because after all it's the lovely Pippa O'Connor's from Pippa.ie own palette. The palette houses 6 matte eyeshadows, a blush, a highlighter and a contour powder, making it a handy little palette for travelling, applying makeup on the go {hello, Monday morning!} as well as beginners just starting out with makeup.
