Is The Hourglass Surreal Light Palette Worth The Money?

| Is the Hourglass Surreal Light Ambient Lighting Edit palette worth the money? |

I instantly fell in love with last year's Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit palette, but I wasn't as into makeup as I am this year and I just couldn't justify spending that amount of money on one palette. However, fast forward to 2016 where my makeup obsession grew intense and after being extremely disappointed all year long {I wish I was exaggerating! Whenever I saw the palette on someone's blog, youtube, Instagram or Pinterest I was reminded of my foolish decision to not buy the palette *insert crying emoji*} I just couldn't let this year's edit pass me buy. Instead of just doing a usual review, I'm addressing the most important question to consider if you're thinking of buying the palette; Is it worth the money?

First of all, how incredible is that marble packaging? But it's not the packaging that's important, it's the product inside. The palette contains five complexion powders including a setting powder, 2 blushes, a bronzer and a strobing powder. As you can see from the swatch photo below, each of the powders is well pigmented, especially 'Surreal Effect' which is the blush in the middle - Swoon! This is my first time to try an Hourglass product and I am completely blown away by how silky smooth the texture of the powders are. You really are paying for luxury.

{From L to R: 'Surreal Light' finishing powder // 'Surreal Glow' blush // 'Surreal Effect' blush // 'Surreal Bronze Light' bronzer // 'Surreal Strobe Light' strobe powder}

Each of the powders has light-reflecting particles of shimmer in them which provide a lit-from-within kinda glow. The finely milled powders create a soft radiant look to the skin, are the most natural looking powders and don't accentuate dry skin. The powder 'Surreal Light' is a nude powder with golden bronzey undertones to it and it contains a lot of shimmer which looks scary in the pan. But fear not because the powder won't make you look like a disco ball and instead it provides a subtle radiant glow to the skin. It's the perfect powder for preventing that flat matte look and the powder is suitable to use on my dry skin. The 'Surreal Glow' blush is a pale peony pink shade which looks quite peachy on my skin and while it swatches well, it's the only shade that I have to build up to be able to see it on my face. But when I do that the result is beautiful and it just makes me look a lot healthier than the other blush does - Love! 'Surreal Effect' is the second blush shade in the palette and it is a rosy pink shade with a warm peach infused into it. You can clearly see the peach shade in the pan but it doesn't really show up on my skin, and instead it just shows up as a soft rosy pink shade. The 'Surreal Bronze Light' is a gorgeous neutral tan shade which provides subtle warmth to the skin. And lastly, is the 'Surreal Strobe Light' strobing powder which is a peachy highlight shade. The shimmer is a little bit more noticeable in this compared to the other powders but it doesn't look chunky if that makes sense. Like all of the powders, it's soft and provides a natural glow to the skin. I've also been able to build this up if I'm feeling like a strong highlight *insert love heart eye emoji*

So, is it worth the money?

The powders are really unique compared to anything else I have in my collection and I was really impressed with the quality and pigmentation of them. I think it's definitely worth buying if you're thinking of trying an Hourglass powder. The individual powders cost more than €40 so for €75 you get to try an HG powder, 2 blushes, a highlighter and a bronzer. I don't regret spending the money on it and now I can't wait to invest in some of the individual powders and at least when I do go to spend a small fortune on one powder I'll know it's worth it.

Will you buying this limited edition Hourglass palette?

Love,
Cliona xx
