New Year's Eve makeup blog post

The New Year's Eve Makeup Menu!

*Sings* Should auld acquaintance be forgot, and auld lang syne.

The last day of 2016 flew in quicker than any of us could fathom and in a few short hours, we'll be ringing in a fresh new year. Whether you're heading out for the evening or just staying in like myself, today is the perfect excuse to finish 2016 in style. And what better way to end the current year than going all out with your makeup?

Base:
I'll be starting my NYE makeup with a full coverage base to hide my atrocious post-Christmas skin *insert monkey with his hands over his eyes emoji* Mac Studio Fix foundation is a medium-full coverage foundation but it's very easy to build it up, which covers every spot and imperfection. I certainly have a lot of those this week - Thanks, chocolate.

To perk up the skin I'll be applying the Mac Pro Longwear concealer to my under eyes and also using it to highlight. The colour is a shade lighter than my foundation so it brightens up my complexion without providing any shimmer or radiance so it doesn't accentuate my problematic skin.

Complexion:
One of my favourite winter blushes is Mac 'Warm Soul' {Review} as it provides a healthy glow to the skin which my dull complexion desperately needs.

Another radiance boosting product is the NYX Liquid Illuminator. It's a pearlescent pink toned shade which makes my skin look much healthier than golden-toned highlighters. I like to apply this to my cheekbones and then dust a bit of 'Hemisphere' from the Sleek Solstice Highlighting palette over it. The two together provide a dewy, radiant ethereal finish which is just perfect for troubled post-Christmas skin.

Eyes:
I recently bought the Anastasia Beverley Hills palette and before that I had never tried any ABH products, but it's safe to say I wasn't left disappointed. There'll be a full review up on the blog in the next few weeks {How could I not?} but all I'll say until then is: The palette houses a wide selection of warm shades including browns, gold, burnt orange and burgundy/deep pink shades. The palette was basically made for me as I wear all of these shades on a day-to-day basis. One word. Four letters. Love!

For the day that's in it I've decided to wear lashes and I've chosen a pair from Nouveau Lashes*. Today I've gone for the Glamour Style 1 as they make a statement for NYE! Voluminous, long, fluttery lashes is the result you get, so farewell short stubby lashes *wink wink* These lashes are incredibly easy to apply, even for a false lash novice like me and the quality is incredible.

I've also decided to sport winged liner and my current favourite eyeliner is the Soap & Glory Supercat liner. At first, I didn't actually like this but recently I dug it out again to give it another go. I got the hang of using it and it has since replaced my other beloved liners. The pigmentation is intensely black and once you get used to using it it's very easy to apply. I'll definitely be repurchasing it in the future!

Lips:
For the lips, I've decided to go for something bright and my product of choice is my Nars Satin Lip Pencil in 'Yu'. This is a bright fuschia shade from their Digital World gift set {review} they released for Christmas. Like all of their lip pencils, the formula is creamy so it glides onto the lips effortlessly, the pigmentation is spot on, they're comfortable to wear and the staying power is very good also. They're one of my favourite lipstick formulas alongside Mac and Charlotte Tilbury.

Highlighter collection blog post

My favourite highlighters for the party season!

Christmas may be over but there's still a few days left of party season and of course, the biggest party night of the year is fast approaching. Is there a better way to ring in the New Year than with a bit of sparkle? Not in my book! NYE is the perfect excuse to wear lots of highlighter so I thought I'd share my favourite highlighters that would be perfect for the big countdown on Saturday night.....

Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette:
Four highlighters encased in a gold quad - Could you get any more festive than that? The palette contains two baked highlighters which are highly pigmented and provide a high-sheen finish to the skin which is just out of this world. They're both my favourite shades in the palette! One is a lilac shade, 'Hemisphere', which is very different to what I'm used to but it's actually the one I reach for the most. It transfers onto the skin as a white/silver shade which looks a lot less subtle than what you think it would look like judging from the pan. The yellow shade called 'Subsolar' is quite shimmery also but it doesn't provide the same sheen as the other two. I love all three of the powders but I don't find the cream highlighter that good. All in all, it's a great budget palette and it's definitely worth purchasing!

Hourglass Surreal Light Ambient Lighting palette:
I love everything about this palette and the highlighter, 'Surreal Strobe Light', is beautiful. It's a warm peachy highlight shade with golden flecks of shimmer running through it. It's quite a statement highlighter and it reminds me slightly of Becca Champagne Pop.

Nyx Liquid Illuminator:
I was never overly impressed with liquid highlighters until I tried this NYX gem. It comes in two shades; I have 'Sunbeam which is a pearlescent pink toned shade. It's quite shimmery compared to Mac strobe cream so I can't wear it all over the face under my foundation. Although, it does look lovely mixed in with a matte foundation but I have to be careful to only use a small amount as it's easy to go overboard with the product. It's versatile in that you can apply a tiny amount to your cheekbones etc. for a bit of a natural everyday radiance or you can apply a larger amount for the 'wet look' - It's gorgeous paired with a burgundy lip during the colder months! Overall, this little budget product is pretty amazing and as a result, I have my eye on the Cover FX drops and the Nars Copacabana illuminator. *insert love heart eye emoji*

Highlighter collection & swatches blog post

The Pippa Palette {review}:
You always know a product is good when you've hit pan but I'm actually very sad to have hit pan {majorly by the way!} on this highlighter as it's one of my favourites. The swatch photo doesn't do it justice at all because it's very pigmented and dewy - Which isn't showing up in the photo, damn Winter lighting! It provides a subtle glow and the shimmer in it is finely milled so it's hardly noticeable on the skin, making it look very natural and dare I say it, like you #wokeuplikethis *wink wink*

The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer:
I added this cult product to my collection only recently and it's easy to see why it's loved by so many. It's a golden champagne shade and the powder itself feels silky smooth making it a dream to apply. It's very pigmented and the shimmer particles are minuscule so it doesn't really show up on the skin. Similarly to Lulu in the Pippa Palette, it provides a radiant look to the skin rather than a shimmery/ high sheen finish like the result you get with the Sleek highlighters. You can apply it lightly for a subtle look or build it up also which is my preferred method - There's no such thing as wearing too much highlight in my opinion ;-)

Catrice High Glow Mineral Highlighting Powder:
This is another baked highlighter which packs a punch to the skin in terms of both shimmer and pigmentation. It provides a similar high sheen finish to the sleek baked highlighters but a bit less shimmery. It's a stunning pearlescent silver shade that looks quite similar Mac Lightscapade and it's just as pigmented! This is a budget-friendly highlighter costing around the €4 or €5 mark so if I were you I'd head to my local Penneys to stock up!

Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop {review}:
Do I even need to talk about this one? I've mentioned it so many times because it is just the best highlighter I've ever come across! Its golden peachy shade, incredible pigmentation and luxurious formula are all factors that keep me coming back to it time and time again.

2016 Makeup Favourites

My most used makeup products in 2016!

2017 is fast approaching and as the current year is drawing to a close I've been reflecting back on the year. Being the beauty addict that I am, I've not only been reflecting back on memories and events throughout the year but I've also been thinking about all of my most used products in the past 365 days. This is the first of my 2016 favourites series as I'll be doing a reading roundup and beauty & lifestyle favourites so they're coming to a computer screen near you during the first week of January. But for now, grab a cuppa and pen & paper because this post might have you feeling spendy.....

Foundations:
I tried and tested a vast array of foundations throughout the year but the three standouts were Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation, Revlon Colourstay and L'oreal True Match {review of all 3} The CT offering has a medium but buildable finish so it covers my imperfections without the need for a concealer {except when there's a large crater on my face - You know what I mean *wink wink*} It has a demi-matte finish which is quite unique to anything else in my collection. It provides a matte finish to the skin but it also perks up a dull complexion, making skin appear fresh and healthy looking. It's perfect if you like a matte foundation but your skin is looking a little lacklustre.

The Revlon foundation is a very full coverage foundation and I was obsessed with it when my skin was breaking out during the leaving cert. The formula is less thick than the CT foundation so it's really quick and effortless to apply, making it a great everyday foundation if your skin isn't behaving.

L'oreal True Match is a lighter base that provides a light to medium coverage. It gives a flawless natural look to the skin and the satin finish is beautiful. It's a great everyday foundation and it's been a firm favourite in my makeup bag this year.

Concealers {Read My Top 5 Concealers Post}:
I couldn't go a day without even a little bit of concealer and the best concealer discovery of the year for me is without a doubt the Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer. This lightweight concealer feels like you have nothing on and doesn't crease or fade throughout the day. It's one of very few concealers that I use on both spots and imperfections as well as under the eyes. Most concealers I own are good for doing either but this provides amazing results for concealing all areas of the face.

Another concealer favourite was the Catrice Camouflage Cream concealer. This is a heavy duty concealer that I use to cover spots. It's full coverage so it covers even the worst spots so if you have acne or blemish prone skin then I'd highly recommend it!

My last concealer favourite is a highlighting option for under the eyes as well as cream highlighting. I am of course talking about Mac's Prep & Prime Highlighting Pen. It's great for brightening up the complexion and it has a medium coverage so it conceals dark circles as well as brightening under the eyes.

Urban Decay naked skin concealer review

Complexion:
If you're a regular around here then you'll know that I bought the Becca Champagne Pop Highlighter {review} this year and at this stage, I think I've mentioned it at least hundred times on my blog and social media. It's honestly the best highlighter ever! The pigmentation is out of this world and I love the golden peachy shade. I've heard a couple of people who have pale skin say they don't like the shade of this one but the Becca highlighters come in a wide variety of shades so there's something to suit everyone. Personally, I think it looks really nice on my pale skin but it's definitely on the warmer side so if you prefer a cooler toned highlighter then Moonstone or Opal is probably the best option for you. They're both on my wish list!

Nars do the best blushes in my opinion and the one that I found myself reaching for a lot this year was 'Luster'. A gorgeous golden apricot shade that looks amazing in both the Summer and the Winter!

2016 makeup favourites blog post

Palettes:
I've had quite a few palette additions to my collection this year - sorry, not sorry! - but one of my most used was The Pippa Palette {review}. The palette contains 6 matte eyeshadows, a blush, a highlighter and a bronzer so it's really handy to have everything in one neat compact palette. If you travel a lot or if you frequently do your makeup on the way to work, school etc then this is ideal for you! I'm obsessed with all of the eyeshadow shades as they're perfect for everyday wear and the bronzer, blush and highlighter are incredible too!

This will probably come as no surprise to most of you but another palette that wowed me was the Hourglass Surreal Light Ambient Lighting palette {review}. Five beautiful light-reflecting powders housed in marble print packaging to add radiance to lacklustre skin {thanks Winter!} as well as looking pretty on top of my dressing table - The most important function of a product, am I right? *insert winking emoji*

2016 makeup favourites blog post

Eyes:
I received the Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde mascara for Christmas last year and it was my most used mascara of the year. It basically does everything from providing volume to length as well as curling the lashes. It's an incredible budget mascara!

I bought the Sleek Brow Kit in 2015 but it wasn't until this year that I started to use it on a daily basis. I wasn't that keen on it when I first tried it but when my brow product that I was using at the time ran out this was the only product I had and I didn't have time to go to Boots. I'm so glad that I rediscovered it as the wax in the kit is amazing for providing defined, fuller looking brows.

My favourite Autumnal palette for creating a warm smoky eye was the Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita quad. I had never tried CT eyeshadows before this year but I wasn't disappointed! The quality of the shadows in this quad are extraordinary and I have a few of the Eyes To Mesmerise shadows and Colour Chameleons on my wish list for 2017 so hopefully they'll be as good as the palette.

For a neutral everyday look, I wore my Nars eyeshadow duo in 'St-Paul-De-Vence'. The sleek minimalistic packaging that Nars are known for houses a pinky rose-gold shade and a matte brown. The two eyeshadows look perfect together and I love wearing the look with a burgundy lip during the colder months.

Lips:
2016 saw an expansion of my nude lipstick collection - you can never have too many! - and the standout combination was Mac Brave Lipstick paired with Mac Soar Lipliner. The perfect nude combination to achieve that famous 'Kylie Jenner Lip'!

Another nude lipstick favourite was the Nars Velvet Matte lip pencil in 'Sex Machine'. I bought this last year but I only fell in love with it this year. The pink mauve shade is the perfect everyday nude and the pencil applicator makes it very easy to use. I love the formula of these pencils as they glide on effortlessly and last a good few hours.

Cosy Christmas Eve Essentials

Christmas eve routine

My essentials for a cosy Christmas Eve!

*Sings* It was Christmas Eve babe....

Christmas Eve is upon us and I'm headed into town for a Christmas coffee and to see the Christmas lights before the preparations for tomorrow begin. In recent years, I've come to the conclusion that I much prefer Christmas Eve to Christmas Day as there's nothing like the exciting anticipation of waiting for the big day. I still feel like a kid waiting for Santa Clause, but instead of being solely excited about the presents {Come on, admit it, we were all like that as a child, haha!} I'm wholeheartedly excited to spend the day with my family. I see my family all of the time as we're very close but there's something extra special about it on Christmas. I'm always excited to see my family members' faces when they unwrap the gifts I've bought them, especially now that my niece is three so she understands Christmas a lot more. You really can't beat the gift of giving, as they say.

Another reason why I love Christmas Eve is because I like to spend half the day taking the time to myself to relax and practice mindfulness. This is something that has become a very important aspect of my life as it helps my anxiety a lot and Christmas isn't easy when you have anxiety. So allowing myself to take a few moments to relax in this way is essential for me to have a good Christmas.

1. Christmas Jumper:
I've dug out my cosy Christmas jumper that I bought in New Look last year. It has a soft woollen material on the inside so it's very cosy and comfortable to wear. It's not a loose fit but it's not tight either so it's ideal for my plans to eat a tonne of Celebrations *insert piggy emoji* I've paired it with a faux fur bomber jacket for the ultimate cosy ensemble.

2. Present Wrapping:
I've been busy this week with preparing blog posts and social media for over the Christmas holidays so I can switch off and relax. As a result, I haven't had the chance to finish my wrapping yet so I'll be taking an hour out today to get it done and I plan on blasting a Christmas playlist at full volume whilst I do so - Sorry neighbours but it is the time to be jolly, haha!

Christmas eve routine

3. Pamper Routine:
I love having a pamper routine, especially during the Christmas holidays so I'll be running myself a sweet smelling bath courtesy of the Zoella Bath Latte. I'll be lighting one of my favourite festive candles - The White Company Winter candle - which diffuses the warm citrusy aroma throughout my home, making it smell like mulled wine. You can't get more Christmassy than that! I'll also be popping on an Origins mask as well as slathering on my current moisturiser from Roger & Gallet {review}.

Christmas Eve Routine

4. Reading By The Tree:
After I've relaxed in the bath I like to extend the relaxed feeling by sitting by the tree and delving into the world of a good book. I'm currently reading Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard which is the second book in a dystopian sequel. I've nearly finished it and the last book had a huge plot twist at the end so I'm eager to see if there's another exciting twist at the end of this one.

5. Christmas Movie Marathon:
I love a good movie marathon and they're even better at Christmas time. The line-up for this evening is Home Alone, Christmas with the Coopers and I might see if I can fit in the third Santa Clause movie too.

Christmas Eve routine

6. Festive Hot Chocolate:
You can't have a Christmas movie marathon without hot chocolate so I'll be making a Terry's orange hot chocolate this evening. Terry's is a Christmas classic so pairing it with another Christmas classic - hot chocolate - makes for the perfect Christmas Eve combo!

7. Christmas Pyjamas & Bedding:
Putting fresh sheets on has been a Christmas Eve tradition of mine since I was a child so I'll be putting a cosy set of Christmas bedding on that I got in Penneys last year. Another tradition of mine is to buy a new pair of pyjamas and this year I bought a set with purple reindeer on them - So cute!

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!

Festive gold beauty favourites

Festive Gold Beauty Favourites!

With only T-minus two days to Christmas, I'm starting to feel more and more festive - Is that even possible? Haha! I'm obsessed with Christmas so I was feeling festive since the start of November but as each day passes my excitement grows bigger. Who says the magic ends when you become an adult? Because I don't believe that at all, and one thing that makes me feel oh so festive and like a kid again, is digging out my favourite beauty products with gold packaging......

First up is the YSL Touche Eclat foundation which is famous for its gold lid and lettering on the bottle. Most of YSL's beauty products are gold so it's any gold lover's dream! The foundation is one of my favourites as it feels lightweight and has a gorgeous dewy finish.

I have two eyeshadow palettes that fall under the gold packaging category as they have gold lettering and designs: Zoeva Cocoa Blend palette and Urban Decay Naked palette. The Zoeva offering contains a variety of warm shades ranging from browns to gold to cranberry and it has a few dark shades for creating some statement looks. The Naked palette is a cult product that we all know and love. It also has a wide variety of shades, most of them have a shimmer finish so they're perfect for the festive period!

Similarly to the two palettes mentioned above the packaging of the L'oreal Telescopic extra black mascara* {review} has gold lettering instead of traditional gold packaging. The product itself is an incredible budget mascara! This lengthens the lashes really well, provides good separation and the thin wand makes it easy to apply the product to the bottom lashes.

The product that has the prettiest packaging is the Sleek Solstice highlighting palette. I don't think I'll ever stop harping on about how much I love this palette! It contains 3 powder highlighters which are incredible, especially for a budget highlighter and it also contains 1 cream formula which I'm not that keen on, to be honest. But overall it's definitely worth the money for the three powder highlighters!

Another product that has Instagram-worthy packaging is the Joan Collins Timeless Beauty Lipstick & Powder Compact Duo* {review}. This handy little compact holds a setting powder and a lipstick so it's perfect for on-the-go application. The lipstick is a gorgeous brown nude shade which is the perfect everyday shade for Winter.

And lastly, it wouldn't be Christmas without a bit of winged liner and to take my wing to the next level I'll be using the Essence liquid gold liner* {review}

Last minute Christmas gift ideas

2016 Christmas Makeup Releases That I've Been Loving!

With only 4 shopping days left, I thought I'd put together a quick last minute gift guide of the 2016 makeup releases that I managed to get my hands on in case anyone is stuck for ideas. Last year, I was doing the Leaving Cert so I really didn't have time to enjoy Christmas let alone think about Christmas gifts. I only took Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Stephen's Day off studying so as you can imagine I had a lot of Christmas shopping to do on Christmas Eve. I promised myself that I would never let that happen again so thankfully I have all of my shopping finished but I feel your pain if you still have things to get. If you have your shopping finished then hopefully this post will give you some inspiration of what to pick up in the post-Christmas sales.....

Nars Lip Pencil Collection:
If you follow me on Instagram then you'll know that I'm a huge fan of Nars lip pencils so it probably comes as no surprise that I treated myself to their lip pencil gift set. It comes with five mini lip pencils: Two of their velvet matte formulas and three of the satin formula.

The set cost just over €40 on Feel Unique and I worried if it was good value as I wasn't sure how small the lip pencils were going to be. But I can safely say that you really do get your money's worth! I placed the mini pencil beside my full-size versions and the small pencils are more than half the size of the full-size versions. They cost €26 individually so this is great value for money and you get to try out a wide variety of shades and formulas.

I had never tried the satin formula before as I wasn't sure if they would be worth the money, but I was pleasantly surprised! Just because they have a satin formula doesn't mean they don't last well. The nude shade doesn't last as long as the matte formula but it lasts considerably longer than any other satin formulas I own.

Shades from left to right:

- Cruella: A classic red

- Iberico: A statement orange

- Yu: A bright fuschia

- Torres Del Paine: A light peachy coral

- Descanso: A peachy nude

Essence The Little Xmas Factory Collection:
Essence released a limited edition collection for Christmas and the products have been a firm favourite in my makeup bag recently. The first product is The Little Xmas Factory Eyeshadow palette* which houses five baked shimmer shadows. As you can see from the swatch photos below the two dark shades are highly pigmented and the other three shades are quite sheer so they act as a pop of shimmer, similarly to the gold shade in the Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita palette. I think the shadows are good quality for the price but I do find that you have to build them up a little when applying them as the pigment doesn't transfer onto the eyes as well as when they're swatched. I don't mind that at all though because I almost always build up eyeshadows to get my desired intensity. Overall, I think this a great festive palette to create some Christmas makeup looks on a budget.

My favourite looks I've created using the palette consist of the brown shade placed on the inner and outer corners of the eye with the pinky nude shade mixed with the gold on the center of the eyelid to create a halo look {the look I've created in the photo below} as well as the green shade all over the lid with a pop of the gold shade - So festive!

I've also been loving the contouring palette*! This little compact contains a contour shade and a highlighter in one making it handy for on-the-go application. The contour powder has become one of my all-time favourite contour products as it defines the cheekbones in a natural looking way. The powder feels very smooth and it blends seamlessly which helps create a soft natural look. The shade is perfect for contouring and I haven't used anything else since I got this! The highlighter in the compact is a lacking in pigmentation a little so it's not one I personally reach for. But it would be perfect for those who want a natural highlight for everyday wear and it's ideal if you're in school to add subtle radiance to the skin. I would've loved this when I was in school!

I also received the liquid gold eyeliner* which is my second favourite product after the beautiful contour powder! I bought a liquid gold eyeliner last year but it was very opaque so I could only use it over black eyeliner. The essence version is a lot more pigmented and less opaque so it looks great worn on its own or above black liner also. The formula is incredible making it easy to use and it provides a gorgeous metallic finish. I'm so impressed with this eyeliner and it's much better than the Maybelline one I used last year {and half the price too!}. This is definitely one to pick up before Christmas Day - Hurry!

Eyeshadow Palette - €4.95
Liquid Gold Eyeliner - €3.50             Available in Penneys!
Contouring palette - €4.10

Essence The Little Christmas Factory Review

Benefit Blushin' Babe Gift Set:
Benefit released this handy set which contains a good few of their bestseller products so it's a great way to try some of their products before you buy the full-size versions. The set contains four blushers - Dandelion, Sugarbomb, Coralista & Rockateur - their famous Hoola bronzer, the Watts Up highlighter, They're Real mascara and lastly, the They're Real Push-up Liner. I haven't tried the highlighter, mascara or eyeliner yet as I'm saving them but I've been reaching for the box o' powders a lot. Overall, I think this set is amazing for anyone that wants to start expanding their makeup collection or young girls who might not have much makeup. The set seems to be sold out on the Debenhams website but there's currently 10% off it on the Arnotts website!

Hourglass Surreal Light Ambient Lighting Palette {review}:
If you read my review of this palette then you'll already know how much I love it! It houses five powders - a setting powder, 2 blushes, a bronzer and a highlighter - so you have everything you need for on-the-go application. The light-reflecting powders are very unique to anything else on the market and they provide a stunning lit from within glow which makes me look so healthy. Each of the powders is incredible quality and the shades are perfect for everyday wear. Not to mention how pretty and Instagram-worthy the packaging is *wink wink* This would be the perfect gift for the beauty lover in your life if you're struggling to buy something - Their face would most certainly light up if they unwrapped this on Christmas morning.

Copper, gold & rose gold eyeshadow favourites

| Copper, Gold & Rose Gold Eyeshadow Favourites! |

Copper, gold and rose gold have grown immensely popular this year. In every household, you'll find a few copper, gold or rose gold pieces whether that's jewellery, homeware items or even makeup. As my eyeshadow collection has grown, a few of these hues have crept their way into my collection and seeing as they're perfect for the festive period I thought I'd share my favourites....

Copper:
I have a soft spot for copper eyeshadows and I have a wide variety of copper shades, each one is so unique from one another.

I was gifted Mac's Antiqued eyeshadow for my birthday and I've been loving it these past few months! It's more of a bronze shade with a slight coppery hint to it but I included it in this post anyway because it suits a copper eye look perfectly. I usually start off with a deep matte brown as my transition shade, I then place a 'proper' copper shade on the lid and I add this to the outer corner to deepen the look. It also looks well on its own and the veluxe pearl finish means that it provides a metallic finish.

I've had Mac Coppering in my collection for over a year and it's one that I reach for quite often. The warm-toned copper shade with strong red undertones looks gorgeous paired with most eyeshadows but it can also be worn on its own for a quick and easy dramatic look. This also has a veluxe pearl finish so it provides a frosted shimmery finish to the eyes. One word: Gorgeous!

Another copper favourite is the Catrice 'Copper & Paste' Eyeshadow Stick. I've been loving cream eyeshadows and eyeshadow sticks lately as they're easy and effortless to apply. I always mention this one on Snapchat {username: clionahill} but I've never spoken about it on my blog before. That's because I'm in two minds about it; On one hand, the shade is stunning, very unique to anything else in my collection, it's extremely pigmented and it doesn't budge throughout the day. But on the other hand, it's quite hard to apply as it drags the skin a little. I find that warming the product up by rubbing it in my hands helps combat this problem, making it glide on easier.

A few months ago I treated myself to the Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita palette and it houses a coppery brown shade. The whole palette is gorgeous but this is the standout shade for me. It has a beautiful satin finish and it's the most pigmented shade in the palette. It's the perfect warm shade for a smoky eye but like most of the shades I've selected, it looks lovely on its own too. You definitely need this quad if you're a warm eyeshadow lover!

My favourite pigment of all time is Mac Copper Sparkle pigment. This is a warm copper shade with a metallic finish and it's the most 'true' copper colour I own, as it looks exactly like a copper ornament. It's really easy to apply, I spray Fix+ onto my brush and dip it into the pot. It's extremely pigmented and it makes any eye look POP!

Gold:
Gold is a classic eyeshadow hue and it's one that looks well on everyone and is easy to pull off. A soft gold eyeshadow was one of the first eyeshadows I ever wore and I used to just wear it on its own when I first started out with makeup. I still love golden shades and I have a variety of them in my stash.

First up is one of the first few Mac eyeshadows I bought: Amber Lights. The shade has coppery/bronze undertones which sets it apart from other gold eyeshadows. It has a frost finish which looks metallic when applied to the eyes and it looks magical because it reflects the light *insert love-heart eye emoji*

Makeup Geek Untamed certainly makes a statement with it being a bright gold shade. The stark yellow undertones of this make it so bright looking and it also has a hint of warm coppery/orange undertones which help make my blue eyes pop. It's one of their foiled eyeshadows so it has a high-sheen metallic finish, you can probably guess that I'm a sucker for those - Haha! As you can see the colour payoff is intense so not one for the faint-hearted but if you're after a strong gold hue then this is for you!

Another note-worthy shade from the Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita palette is the 'Pop' shade. It's not as pigmented as the other two I've mentioned but I like that because it's not overpowering which means it adds a wash of shimmer to the Dolce Vita look without losing the copper shade that I mentioned above.

Half Baked from the original Urban Decay Naked palette is my favourite shade in the palette. This bright gold shade the perfect festive gold that looks well paired with a burgundy or red lip. Like all UD eyeshadows, the pigmentation is incredible, the formula is easy to blend and there's hardly any fallout. If you haven't tried UD eyeshadows before then the original naked palette is a great place to start!

Rose Gold:
If you follow me on Instagram then you'll know how obsessed with rose gold I am and I've even been incorporating my rose gold obsession into my makeup recently!

First up is Mac Expensive Pink: To me, this looks like a peachy pink shade with flecks of rose gold shimmer in it. The shade is very versatile as it looks great for both daytime wear as well as an evening look. It's a veluxe pearl so the texture is buttery soft and easy to apply. I love everything about it!

Mac Mythology is a recent addition to my collection and I wasn't too sure about getting it as I've read that the shade is quite similar to Expensive Pink. But I'm glad I got it because the two are quite different in my opinion. EP is more a peachy pink shade with a slight rose gold hint whereas Mythology is a proper rose gold colour with slight coppery undertones. The finish is completely different, with Mythology being a high-sheen metallic finish with chunkier glitter particles. It's an amazing standout shade and it's perfect for the festive season.

The Nars St-Paul-De-Vence eyeshadow duo contains a stunning pinky/rose gold shade alongside a matte brown. This is the perfect duo for creating a simple elegant neutral eye. The two colours are a complement so you won't need to pair the look with any other shadows - handy for on-the-go application or travelling! Because of the minimal result with this duo, the look goes perfectly with a burgundy lip.
