Makeup To Get You Into The Festive Spirit

Festive makeup blog post

| The Makeup Products You Need To Get Into The Festive Spirit! |

It's December 1st and it's officially time to start getting into the festive spirit! And the best way to spread Christmas cheer is wearing glittery festive makeup for all to see - Elf Reference *wink wink* Bad jokes aside, my favourite and simple way to make myself feel Christmassy is applying glittery eye makeup and a classic red lip. I love a good Christmas jumper but sometimes it's just not appropriate to wear one so that's where these subtle but festive makeup products come in handy......

Eyes:
They say the eyes are the windows to your soul but they're also the window to festive makeup because you can make a statement on the eyes with bright colours and glitter around this time of year. The Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita palette is the perfect Christmas palette in my opinion as the rich coppery, brown and gold shades are exactly what you need to create a festive eye look. I also love this palette because you can create a subtle everyday look whether you're singing in your school carol service or you're just running to Tesco to pick up your turkey, and it can also be used to create a dramatic smoky look for your Christmas parties.

Another great festive product for the eyes is Mac's 'Copper Sparkle' pigment. As you can imagine, this will certainly add a statement pop of glitter to any festive eye look. The warm rich coppery shade of the pigment is perfect for this time of year!

Base:
For my base, I'm always drawn to YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation for the festive period. The dewy finish and illuminating properties of this foundation are what draw me to it around this time of year. I couldn't imagine wearing a matte foundation during the festive period and this is my all-time favourite dewy foundation! It has light to medium coverage and it feels quite lightweight on the skin. December is a month of indulgence and that can wreak havoc on my skin so a foundation that's lightweight will allow my skin to breathe. In a nutshell {or should I say nutcracker? Ha!}, it's a perfect choice!

Highlight:
The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer will be my highlight of choice for the majority of this month as the golden, champagne highlighter provides the perfect Christmas glow to those cheekbones. The pigmentation is just as good as Becca Champagne Pop but it's less shimmery so it's a little bit more subtle for everyday wear. It'll be in my makeup bag every day this month but when I want something a little bit more dramatic I'll be reaching for my Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette. The violet shade which is called 'Hemisphere' is my favourite and whilst it looks scary in the pan, it's actually very easy to wear. When applied it transfers to a pearlescent/silver shade and it has a high sheen finish. A small amount of this swiped onto the cheekbones will make you shine brighter than your favourite sparkly bauble - It is Christmas, after all!

Lips:
If you read my top 5 lipstick and lipliner combinations blog post then you'll know that my favourite red is the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in 'Cruella'. This is the perfect classic Christmas red shade and prepare to see it featured in many upcoming posts!
