5 Ways To Feel Festive & Cosy This December

5 ways to feel festive

5 Ways To Feel Festive & Cosy This December!

December is the cosiest month of the year and there's nothing better than having a cosy evening on the couch by the Christmas tree, especially when it's so dark and cold out. I've been busy working on assignments recently so I'll feel like I haven't gotten a chance to fully embrace the festivities yet. But I've been trying to make the most of my free evenings by incorporating some festive rituals into my evening routine. Here are five ways to feel festive if you're not already!

1. Christmas Decorations: The best way to spread Christmas cheer is by saturating the house with sparkly Christmas lights, glitter baubles and seasonal colours.

2. A Fun Festive Jumper: I've sported my Christmas jumper a few times whilst writing my assignments recently and it adds a pop of festiveness to my daily study routine!

3. Cosy Candles: Candles are the epitome of cosiness and a festive scent will help transform the house into a winter wonderland. My favourites are The White Company Winter candle and Yankee Candle Red Apple Wreath. Both scents are warm, inviting and fruity - reminiscent of mulled wine, yum!

4. Christmas Films & Christmas Episodes Of My Favourite Tv Shows:
Popping on my favourite Christmas film in the evening after a long day of study and assignments is the perfect way to unwind. There's something about Christmas films that I find really calming and relaxing. If I'm not in the mood for a film then a Christmas episode of my favourite Tv show will suffice. I've recently just finished watching all of the Christmas episodes of Modern Family and next on my list to watch is Friends!

5. Christmas Chocolate: My second favourite thing about Christmas {after the cosy vibes and fairy lights} is the food, the sweet treats in particular. I have a sweet tooth and during the year I try to limit the number of sweet things I eat but in December I have no limits *insert winking emoji* I'm currently demolishing my way through a box of Celebrations - my favourite Christmas chocolate box! - and I'm also loving Cadbury's Roses cake bars - They're amazing!

What are your favourite ways to feel festive and cosy in December?

Love,
Cliona xx

50 Shades Of Christmas

50 shades of christmas

50 Shades Of Christmas!

The festive season is always brimming with seasonal colours that brighten the place up from berries to reds to copper. For today's post, I've rounded up my favourite Christmassy makeup hues to wear during the holiday season.

Rich Berries & Burgundy:
A rich berry hue to coordinate with the mulled wine is a must *insert winking emoji* and my current favourite berry nail polish is Essie Big Spender - a vibrant berry with purple undertones!

The NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Prague is basically the same shade in lipstick form. Unlike many other liquid lipstick formulas, it's comfortable to wear and I can get a good few hours wear from it.

For a deeper, vampier burgundy option, Essie Its Genius is the perfect option! It also has little flecks of shimmer in it so it's a subtle way to add some sparkle to your festive party look.

Luminous Champagne & Icy White:
Champagne highlighters are my favourite shade of highlighter to wear during the festivities. My skin has been severely dry and flaky recently so I've been trying to opt for cream/liquid products as much as possible. My current liquid champagne highlighter favourite is the L.O.V Cosmetics Highlighting Drops in No.20 Sunlight Glow {Review}. I blend a few drops on my cheekbones with my Real Techniques beauty blender for a natural dewy look.

My icy white pick that will transform your lids into a winter wonderland is the Mac Snowball Frostwinked Extra Dimension Eyeshadow

Warm Coppers & Bronzes:
Another eyeshadow favourite from the ethereal Mac Snowball collection is Stylishly Merry, a gorgeous coppery pink shade that has a golden shift to it. It's easy to see why it sold out instantaneously!

If you're feeling bronzey then Stila's Magnificent Metal Liquid Eyeshadow in Smoky Storm is the one for you! A sparkly smoky bronze shade that will make you the belle of the ball at your Christmas party.

Sparkly Rose Gold Hues:
The By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Frozen Quartz has Christmas written all over it, from the celestial pinky rose gold hue to the dreamy festive gold packaging.

For the nails, Essie Buy Me A Cameo is a great option! A dreamy metallic nude shade that looks rose gold in certain lights - Swoon!

Seasonal Reds:
Red is the epitome of Christmas and I love sporting a festive red lip at this time of year. I've said it before but I'll say it again, my top pick is hands down Nars Cruella - It's the perfect Christmas red!

Another Nars red favourite is their lip pencil in Iberico. This one is an orangey-red hue but it's a versatile shade as it works well for this time of year as well as in the summer months.

What are your favourite Christmassy makeup shades?

Love,
Cliona xx

Magical Makeup To Get You Into The Festive Spirit

Festive makeup

Magical Makeup To Get You Into The Festive Spirit!

The most wonderful time of the year has returned once again and to celebrate, I'm pulling out some magical makeup picks from my collection to help get me into the festive spirit.

It's not Christmas without a dash of highlighter and my beaming Too Faced Love Lights Highlighter could rival the twinkly lights on my Christmas tree. This peachy golden shade is going to complement so many of my Christmas makeup looks!

Who needs five gold rings when you have a beautiful gold highlighter from Mac. The Happy Go Dazzlingly Highlighter from the Snowball collection is a stunning golden shade and the snowflake imprint gives me all the Christmassy feels.

Gold packaging is the epitome of Christmas to me so I've added my Too Faced Sun Bunny Bronzer to my everyday makeup bag. Not only is the packaging festive, the sweet scent reminds me of a tin of roses - Yum!

For blush, I'm opting for a deep copper hue to embrace the festive season. I feel like you can't go wrong with a bit of copper at this time of year and my Becca Blushed Copper Blush is a perfect choice!

I'm dreaming of a sparkly Christmas and my top sparkly eyeshadow pick is the Stila Written In The Stars Gift Set. It contains three of the most popular shades - Kitten Karma, Diamond Dust, and Smoky Storm - from their Magnificent Metals collection. They're easy to apply and they provide an intense sparkle so they're ideal for the festive period - Highly recommend!

A red lip is a classic Christmas tradition and my favourite red lipstick of all time is Nars Cruella Velvet Matte Lip Pencil. It feels comfortable to wear and it's the perfect Christmas red hue.

I'll be saving my red pick for special occasions and on a daily basis, I'll be reaching for a nude shade. The pinky nude shade isn't groundbreaking at all, however, the packaging is certainly the wow factor of this lipstick. The YSL Dazzling Lights Lipstick collection will definitely add a pop of Christmas to your makeup bag!

What are your favourite festive makeup picks?

Love,
Cliona xx

The Best Christmas 2017 Beauty Launches

Christmas 2017 beauty launches

| The Best Christmas 2017 Beauty Launches! |

Tis the season to be jolly and the new Christmas beauty releases are getting me into the festive spirit. For today's post, I'll be rounding up my top picks, including a few that I've been testing out recently as well as a few that I have my eye on!

I treated myself to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Volume 3 Palette for my birthday and I highly recommend it! The stunning rose gold palette houses six luxurious powders, including two blushers, a bronzer, two setting powders and a highlighter. I wasn't too keen on the highlighter in last year's Ambient Lighting Surreal Light Edit but I've fallen in love with the highlighter in this year's version. Subsequently, I now have my eye on the Ambient Metallic Strobe Lighting Palette - Swoon!

Speaking of dreamy palettes, the Becca Apres Ski Eye Palette has been a firm favourite in my makeup collection since October. The beautiful and festive gold packaging makes it the perfect gift for someone or it would also be a lovely treat to yourself. If that palette isn't your cup of tea then Becca also have the Apres Ski Glow Collection Face Palette which looks equally as pretty.

Mac snowball collection

Jack Frost will be nipping at my eyelids with my new Mac Snowball eyeshadow in Frostwinked *insert winking emoji* This breathtaking icy white highlight shade is the perfect pick for the festivities! Also from the Snowball collection is the Happy Go Dazzlingly Highlighter and Stylishly Merry eyeshadow. The former is a stunning golden highlighter and the latter is a gorgeous duochrome eyeshadow that looks gold but when it hits the light it looks pink - gorgeous!

The award for prettiest Christmas packaging goes to YSL this year with their Dazzling Lights collection. I couldn't resist treating myself to the Rouge Pur Couture Dazzling Lights Edition Lipstick in 'Le Nu', a stunning pinky nude shade - my favourite kind of shade!

Another lipstick release that looks amazing is the Clinique Pop Til You Drop Makeup Gift Set. I love the Clinique Pop Matte Lip Colours and it's good value to buy the set as you get to try four different shades for the price of one of the lipsticks.

Pink & Burgundy Details

Autumn outfit post
Autumn outfit details

Pink & Burgundy Details!

As the evenings become darker and the weather becomes drearier I like to inject some sprightly colours into my wardrobe to lift my mood. Pink has become a beloved shade by many people across the world and it's easy to see why. The hue adds a light and airy aura and a subtle pop of colour to any outfit, but it's less daunting than donning a vivid red or a flamboyant yellow. In today's outfit post, I've paired some pretty pink pieces with a quintessential Autumn/Winter shade, burgundy, for a cheerful yet season-appropriate outfit.

It was love at first sight when I stumbled upon this pretty floral Zara dress hanging on the rails and I knew it would be the perfect Autumn/Winter dress paired with boots and tights. I'm basically a walking ad for Zara at this stage because I also sported my new Zara embroidered collar. I love the intricate beading detail on it *insert love heart eye emoji*

I'm sporting two of the biggest trends on the high street this season with the velvet and pearl studs on my new Zara boots that certainly make a statement and add bling to my daily wardrobe. When I first spotted these I got Gossip Girl and Sex & The City vibes straight away. These boots were definitely not made for walking as they're quite uncomfortable but I'll forgive them because they look like they're ready to strut the streets of Fifth Avenue and the Upper East Side *insert winking emoji*

My two bargain finds in this outfit are my Penneys/Primark floppy hat and biker jacket. The rich burgundy hue of the floppy hat complements the light pink tones in the outfit and it also adds a retro vibe to the ensemble.

My Most Loved Autumn Products

My Most Loved Autumn Products!

It feels as though Autumn is officially starting to fade away with the abundance of Christmas lights being displayed all over the world and with the shops gearing up for the busiest time of the year. I thought I'd gather my most loved products this Autumn and share the old favourites that were in my makeup bag a lot this season as well as a few new additions.

The weather is getting chillier and chillier each day and my skin is already feeling parched. Over the last few weeks, I've been using an old favourite, Mac Strobe Cream as my primer to hydrate my skin before foundation as well as adding a healthy glow to the skin.

For my under eye concealer, I've been reaching for Mac Prep & Prime Concealer Pen, a creamy pick that's perfect for dry skin at this time of year and it adds luminosity to the under eye area.

The Nars Unfiltered 2 Cheek Palette has been an all-year-round favourite this year but recently I've been loving the shade Candid, a berry-plum shade with a gorgeous satin finish. The deeper tone of this hue works well for this time of year and it complements my favourite berry lipsticks and gold eyeshadows.

My highlighter of choice at the moment is the Too Faced Love Lights Prismatic Highlighter in 'Ray of Light'. What looks like a pink-toned rose gold highlighter in the pan is actually a light peachy golden shade so it's a lot more wearable than I thought it would be. However, the peachy tones are fairly strong so I think it will be a love or hate shade for some people.

Mac snowball extra dimension eyeshadow

I recently got a few bits from the Mac Snowball Collection and I've been loving the Extra Dimension Eyeshadows from the collection. These eyeshadows are very different from the Extra Dimension eyeshadow I have from the core collection as they're a lot more sparkly and chunky in texture. They are a little bit harder to apply and you need to apply your eye makeup before your base makeup because there's a lot of fallout but once they're on they look beautiful.

Lastly, my Autumnal lip favourite is my Hourglass Girl Lip Stylo in 'Seeker', a deep rosy pink hue that hydrates the lips with shea butter and jojoba being two main ingredients.

What are your most loved Autumn products?

Cliona xx

50 Shades Of Autumn; The Beauty Edition

Autumnal Berry, Mauve & Copper Hues!

The Winter season is slowly creeping up on us, but before it arrives in full force I want to embrace the last few weeks of Autumn by sporting my favourite Autumnal makeup hues. A few months ago I shared my favourite Autumn fashion shades in a post called 50 shades of Autumn so I thought I'd do a beauty edition too. From rich berries to pretty mauves to warm coppers, here are a few of my favourite Autumnal makeup shades....

My latest beauty favourite is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Volume 3 Palette and the shade Surreal Halo is a beautiful berry shade that adds warmth to my cheeks and perks up my complexion. The Surreal Light setting powder is infused into it so it tones down the berry hue a little which makes it more wearable.

My most-worn copper eyeshadow is Mac Coppering, a warm-toned copper with red undertones that can be worn on the lid for a statement pop of colour, but I also like to use it in the outer corner of the eye for a change from my usual fail-safe brown hues.

For extra sparkle and glam in the lead up to Christmas, I'll be sporting one of my favourite pigments, Mac Copper Sparkle. This stunning metallic rusty copper shade {swatched here} makes my blue eyes pop and paired with warm browns it creates a quintessential Autumn eye look.

I love wearing mauve nudes during the Autumn/Winter and my top lip liner pick is Essence Satin Mauve, a neutral mauve shade perfect for everyday wear. This budget find is cheap but cheerful with its creamy formula and long-lasting properties. I usually pair the liner with another pinky mauve shade, Mac Brave

For a statement lip pick, I've been reaching for the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Prague, a stunning berry shade with purple undertones. The shade is lighter than most vampy berry lipstick hues so it's much easier to wear on an everyday basis. Essie Big Spender is pretty much the exact same shade in nail polish form so they go perfectly together.

What are your favourite Autumn makeup shades?

Love,
Cliona xx

Five Favourite Things In The Month Of October

October Favourites

Five Favourite Things In The Month Of October!

The spookiest month of the year has come and gone but before the time comes to start getting into the festive mood, let's have a chat about five things that made me happy last month. October was a cosy month filled with evenings snuggled up on the couch watching some of my favourite shows, and as well as that it was my birthday so I was treated to a few new makeup releases.

One: I treated myself to the beautiful Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Volume 3 for my birthday and I originally wasn't planning on getting it because I have last year's version but when Space NK had £15 off I decided to get it. I'm so glad I did because overall I prefer this one to last year's edition! The two blush shades and the highlighter in this year's palette are far better than last year's but I'll have a full review and comparison of the two palettes up next week.

Two: Another new Christmas launch is the Becca Apres Ski Eye Palette which houses five of the famous Shimmering Skin Perfectors - Rose Quartz, Moonstone, Pearl, Topaz and Opal - as well as two new shades that are more like eyeshadow shades compared to the other five highlighter shades. For my everyday makeup routine, I like using a champagne/ neutral highlight shade either on the lid on its own or else paired with a matte brown, and this palette is perfect for those types of looks. There's not a lot of variety that you can achieve with this palette so I don't think it'll be for everyone but you can also use the highlight shades on the face so it's actually a great way to try a few of the renowned Shimmering Skin Perfectors.

Three: My next favourite will come as no surprise because I've mentioned it just a few times throughout the month. The Body Shop Vanilla Pumpkin Body Butter and Hand Cream have been well loved due to the quintessential Autumn scent and hydrating formula. Both products are packed with skin-loving ingredients to combat the effects of the cold weather on the skin.

Yellow Cardigan

Four: My style pick of the month was this beautiful vibrant yellow cardigan from Penneys. This cosy bargain find has a soft material and is a slouchy fit making it even more comfortable. It's been keeping me snug as I wait for two buses for my commute to College and the sprightly colour has been cheering me up since the evenings have become darker.

Five: It was a good month for TV shows with the return of a beloved show and some new discoveries. Scandal returned last month and it's my all-time favourite tv series! It's a political based show centred around the US Presidency and the storylines involve corruption and lots of drama - There are a good few laughs in it too! I also started watching Designated Survivor, another drama based around the inner workings of the US Presidency. To embrace Halloween I jumped on the Stranger Things bandwagon and I can see why it gets so much hype! A must-watch! For something more light-hearted I started watching Salon Confidential, an Irish easy-to-watch reality show.

What are your October favourites?

Cliona xx

A Dreamy Mac Lipstick {Mac x Nicki Minaj}

Mac Nicki's Nude review| A Dreamy Mac Lipstick! |

I've lusted after a limited edition Mac lipstick for a few years now but every time I miss out because they sell out by the time I'm ready to purchase one or else the shades don't suit me. However, I finally got my hands on one and I think it's the best limited edition lipstick they've released to date so it was definitely worth the wait!

I am of course talking about the beautiful Mac x Nicki Minaj collaboration, with the stunning pink packaging and two wearable neutral shades the collection certainly has swoon-worthy status. I opted for the shade Nicki's Nude, a peachy pink nude with an Amplified finish. When it's swatched the peachy undertones look more prominent but on my lips, the shade is muted down to look more neutral. I've never tried the Amplified formula before but I've fallen in love with it and I'll definitely be picking up some more Amplified shades in the future. The formula is creamy and feels slightly hydrating, a perfect winter makeup bag addition!

The lasting power isn't the best because it's such a light nude shade but it's not the worst either. To extend the longevity I've been pairing it with my current favourite lip liner from L.O.V Cosmetics*

I'm in love with this lipstick and I'm very tempted to buy The Pink Print too *insert love heart eye emoji*

Beauty & Lifestyle Picks For Halloween

Halloween Lifestyle & Beauty Favourites

Beauty & Lifestyle Picks For Halloween!

"Double double toil and trouble", the spookiest day of the year is almost here and before the ghostly ghouls and goblins appear it's time to gather the Halloween treats near. I'm starting to get into Halloween mode with ethereal makeup picks, pumpkin scents, a supernatural read, rich Autumnal Essie hues and a fiendish fancy or two.

It's business as usual for me on Tuesday morning as I'll be heading to campus for a quick meeting and a fleeting visit to the library. I've decided to switch up my makeup routine for the day that's in it with ethereal products that will give me magical and spooky feels.

There's nothing more magical than the Mac Extra Dimension collection and for Halloween, I'll be sporting their Extra Dimension Eyeshadow in Ready To Party. This shimmery light purple shade with pink undertones looks gorgeous on the lid for a pop of colour paired with other pink and purple eyeshadows. I associate rich purple colours with Halloween so I'll be using some of my favourite shades such as Mac Sketch and Haux paired with it.

Another dreamy Extra Dimension pick is the highlighter in Double Gleam, a beautiful vanilla-champagne shade that provides an intense glow.

A recent addition to my NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream collection is the shade Prague, a beautiful berry shade with purple undertones. There's definitely a purple theme in this post, haha!

I get two buses to College so my hands always get cold whilst I'm waiting for the bus and by the time I get home they feel dry and sore. To combat this I've been applying my current favourite, The Body Shop Vanilla Pumpkin hand cream*, a hydrating pick with a non-greasy formula that sinks in quickly. The warm nutty vanilla and pumpkin fragrance is perfect for the day that's in it!

Beauty picks for Halloween

I'm hoping to squeeze in a little pamper session and I'd like to use the last bit of my Lush Sparkly Pumpkin Bubble Bar I have left. The quintessential Halloween product is packed with gold glitter and an orange dye so it provides your bath with a fun colour and a bit of sparkle which is what Halloween is all about!

After my relaxing bath, I'll slather my body in an Autumnal favourite, The Body Shop Vanilla Pumpkin Body Butter*. The body butter has the same delicious fragrance that's reminiscent of Autumnal baking as the hand cream so it's a great Halloween pamper treat!

The last step of my pamper evening is the nails and I'll be opting for Essie Big Spender, an autumnal berry hue with strong purple undertones that's similar to the NYX lip cream I mentioned earlier.

When I'm all pampered and relaxed I'll be having a quiet cosy evening in, watching Hocus Pocus, a Halloween tradition since I was a child. My treat of the evening will be a few festive fiendish fancies and a tasty hot chocolate for ultimate cosiness. After the movie, we'll probably watch our latest tv show favourite, Stranger Things and it also happens to be a great Halloween choice as the events in the show are eerie and mysterious.

Happy Halloween!

How will you be spending Halloween?

Love,
Cliona xx

Five Too Faced Favourites

Favourite Too Faced Products

Five Too Faced Favourites!

Over the last few months, I've been sharing a few of my favourite products from various brands I love. We've had the Hourglass, Nars and Charlotte Tilbury instalments but today it's all about Too Faced. There are lots of sweet-smelling products that will have your mouth drooling in this roundup and stay tuned for the dreamy ethereal highlighter *insert love heart eye emoji*

The fatal product that started my Too Faced love affair was the cult classic Chocolate Bar palette. It's certainly a neutral palette lover's dream with all the brown, bronze and gold tones. I find myself reaching for this palette a lot as the shadows are easy to work with and I find it easy to achieve a quick minimal look for my everyday makeup routine.

The Hangover Primer was my second purchase from the brand and the hydrating lightweight cream leaves my skin feeling smooth and ready for makeup application. A must-have for anyone with dry or dehydrated skin, and it's also the perfect pick-me-up for the skin during the Winter months! It's formulated with coconut water and probiotics which hydrates and revives dry, lacklustre skin. As you can imagine it has a sweet delicious scent of coconuts but it isn't heavily scented so it's kind to my sensitive skin.

Top Photo: Too Faced Sweet Peach Shadows; Bottom Photo: Too Faced Ray Of Light Highlighter

The Sweet Peach eyeshadow palette became a favourite of mine during the Summer due to its beautiful selection of shades. There's a bit of everything in there from purples to browns to pinks so you can create many versatile looks. And who could resist that cute pink packaging?

A recent addition to my collection is the Sun Bunny bronzer which has a satin finish so it adds a slight golden glow as well as warming up the face. The formula of the powder feels soft and luxurious and is easy to blend. It has great pigmentation that you can apply with a light hand for a subtle look but you can also build up the colour.

Another recent addition that I got for my birthday was the Love Lights Prismatic Highlighter in 'Ray Of Light'. This swoon-worthy pink-toned highlighter is unlike anything else I have in my collection and I initially had reservations about the shade as I thought it might be too pink. I decided to step out of comfort zone and I'm so glad I did because on the skin it looks peachy and has a golden shift to it when the light hits it.

What are your favourite Too Faced products?

Love,
Cliona xx

Five Autumn Skincare & Bodycare Favourites

Autumn Skincare Favourites

Five Autumn Skincare & Bodycare Favourites!

Autumn is the epitome of cosiness and every evening I treat myself to a mini pamper session by slathering my body in nourishing creams and applying hydrating as well as clarifying products to my skin. Recently I've been reaching for five products that have become a staple in my skincare routine.

I begin my evening routine by removing my makeup and cleansing my face. My favourite type of cleanser to use is a cleansing milk and I recently stumbled upon a cheap but cheerful one. The Nivea Sensitive cleansing milk has been a welcomed addition my skincare routine as the formula is gentle and nourishing for the cold months. I use it as the second cleanser in my double cleanse routine and whilst it's not the best cleanser I've ever used, it does the job and the price makes my bank account happy!

My skin gets quite congested as a result of sugary treats around this time of year and the weather and central heating also wreak havoc on the condition of my skin. To combat this I've been using Hylamide Pore Flush* recently and this plant-based facial spray has been helping decongest my skin. When I first started using it I got two spots as the product was extracting the dirt from my pores. I think it has a refreshing plant-like scent that also has a hint of sweetness to it. I also think my skin looks a little less lacklustre and it hasn't dried out my skin, nor did it feel harsh either.

Another facial spray that's ideal for this time of year is Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist. The spray is formulated with numerous skin-loving ingredients such as linoleic acid, provitamin A and hyaluronic acid which promote healthy and hydrated skin. I apply it every morning and evening but if my skin is feeling more parched than usual I often spritz it a few times throughout the day without it interfering with my makeup.

Hylamide pore flush

My first bodycare favourite is one I discovered during the Summer and I've been reaching for it ever since. The Garnier Ultimate Blends body lotion contains a blend of oat milk which is known for its restoring properties as well as white almond cream which nourishes the skin, leaving it feeling soft. The hypoallergenic formula is also soothing and kind to my sensitive skin. It also helped revive my skin when it became dry and itchy after a reaction to suncream during the Summer.

When I want something a little bit more indulgent I reach for The Body Shop Vanilla Pumpkin body butter*. The quintessential Autumn scent always has me craving homebaked Autumnal treats and the rich, creamy formula is perfect for dry, parched skin but it still sinks into the skin fairly quickly so I can pop my jammies on straight away. The scent makes me feel oh so cosy and it's the perfect rainy evening treat!

What are your favourite Autumn skincare & bodycare products?

Love,
Cliona xx
