Life Lately | Spring Updates & A New Approach To Blogging

| Life Lately: Spring Updates & A New Approach To Blogging! |

Recently I've been taking a lot of inspiration from my old posts (more on that later) and I used to write little life update posts quite frequently. In the past year or so I've been struggling to share lifestyle content because I like to stay quite private on my blog. I share so much but yet I share so little - anyone that reads my blog or follows me on Instagram will know what a lot of my interests are, what I like/don't like but overall I keep my life and views on certain matters private. However, when reading my old life update posts I used to just write about things I'm enjoying rather than what's actually going on in my life and some of the topics included, updating you on what TV programmes I'm loving, what I'm loving/not loving at the moment etc. So I thought I'd bring back these posts every now and again and just have a chat about some lifestyle things I'm enjoying.

1) Spring Updates:
The imminent arrival of Spring/Summer has been helping to lift my mood recently. Although the weather is still a bit chilly and we've had a few miserable rainy days, the brighter evenings and the thought of warmer weather in a few weeks is not only putting me in a better mood but it's also making me feel more productive. To prepare for the new season I've been organising and refreshing my wardrobe and my bedroom.

1) Bedroom Updates: If you follow me on Instagram then you'll know that I love to switch up my dressing table decor each season and recently, I've updated it for Spring/Summer. I decided to opt for some fake cherry blossom flowers dangling over my mirror and a branch of pink flowers (I'm not sure what type they are!) in my vase. I'm planning on doing a full post about the new setup soon with lots of photos so keep your eyes peeled for that!

2) Wardrobe Updates: As well as that I've been planning my Spring outfits and I've been adding a few new Spring pieces to my wardrobe. My first port of call for buying some new clothes was Penneys or Primark as it's known to the rest of the world. I often find great pieces in there for a bargain price and I was so happy with all my purchases! I did a haul on my Instagram and I saved it to my highlights if you'd like to see what I got but some of the pieces included a pink blazer, blue trousers, pink & white runners and a denim skirt. I also picked up a couple of items in New Look including this grey t-shirt, a monochrome stripy top that was reduced to a fiver, a pair of grey trousers and this pink pinafore which you can see me wearing in my 'April Outfits' highlight on my Instagram. Another sale item that I found was this floral denim jacket from H&M - keep an eye out for it on my stories!

2) A New Approach To Blogging & Instagram:
The arrival of warm sunny weather instantly makes me feel more creative and inspired so I'm planning lots of content for my blog and Instagram for the next few months. However, I have a new approach to my blog style or rather, I'm revisiting my old style.

In the past year, I've been falling in and out of love with my blog and I'm not sure why. But recently I've been looking back at my old content and I'm going to be reintroducing some of the content I used to do, including these life updates, focused reviews, and I'd like to do more outfit posts but I'm not going to put too much pressure on myself for this one, if it happens then great but if it doesn't it's fine too. I've already started to change my Instagram style by uploading more photos of myself and a mixture of photo angles instead of just the same flatlays all the time. I've been saving lots of my old photos on Instagram and some that I used to post and that I would like to post again include FWIS (From where I sit and from where I stand), decor, fashion, 'hands in frame' photos, cosy self-care photos and of course, my usual beauty photos too! I'm mostly taking inspiration from my 2015 and 2016 feeds as that was when I was happiest with my blog and IG so you might see some similar style photos cropping up! For example, I took inspiration from this FWIS photo from 2015 for this recent photo, and I was also inspired to recreate this baking photo for my recent photo of some Easter cupcakes I baked - I think recreating old ideas that you haven't shared in awhile is a great way to re-inspire yourself!

3) Loving Lately | Self-care Activities:
1) Baking: During the recent snow days we had I baked cookies and it was my first time baking in ages! I used to bake something at least once a month but over the years I lost my love for it. But I was reminded of how fun and therapeutic baking is and my Spring/Summer goal is to bake more treats (both healthy and unhealthy!). I recently baked some Easter cupcakes and I'm already planning what I'm going to make next!

2) Netflix Marathons: Who doesn't love a good Netflix binge in the evenings?! Recently I've seen a few good films including Before I Fall, The 5th Wave and The Maze Runner. I've also been loving some new shows such as Salvation and Dynasty.

4) A Reading Slump:
If you know me well enough then you'll know that I love reading, but recently I've been in a reading slump. I've lost my love of reading and whenever I pick up a book I can't concentrate on it. I've only managed to finish two books so far this year but I'm really determined to start reading again! My goal for April is to finish two books that I've already started reading - Still Me by Jojo Moyes and Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake.

What have you been loving lately?

Love,
Cliona xx
