Life Lately & 2019 Goals


Life Lately.....Feeling Sick & Passing My Driver Theory Test


I've been a bit more quiet than usual on my blog and Instagram recently so for today's post, I wanted to sit down and have a little catch-up and share a few goals I'm working on at the moment.

I started the year with a bad case of the flu and I ended up getting whooping cough so I was having bad coughing fits for about six weeks. The coughing was intense so my chest was quite sore and the exhaustion made it difficult to get anything done. It wasn't the greatest start to a new year and to be honest, I feel like I'm only starting my year now, haha, but at least I'm finally able to get back into the swing of things! I'm still taking things slowly as the exhaustion is still quite bad but I'm trying to catch up with things and get organised again. I'm so glad to be starting blogging properly again and doing my yoga workouts too!

One good thing did come from the boredom of being sick though, it finally gave me a push to book my theory test! I had been passing all my practice tests for a while but I kept procrastinating booking it because of anxiety. However, I felt that I'd be waiting a long time until I'm 'ready' so I just decided to go for it and I'm so glad I did because I passed and I feel so much better about starting to drive now that it's done!


My Current Goals...

Now that I'm feeling better, I've been thinking about some goals I'd like to achieve during the year and I thought I'd document them on here - it'll be nice to look back on at the end of the year!

1) Focus On My Mental Health, Be Kinder To Myself And Build Up My Confidence
I want 2019 to be a year of feeling well, self-care and doing more. My mental health stops me from doing a lot of things and this year I want to really focus on recovery so that I can start living a less restricted life. When I was 18 I felt so confident but the last couple of years I've started to doubt myself and my abilities a lot and it stops me from doing so many things! I put myself down a lot without even realising it sometimes, but I'm trying to be more mindful of my thoughts. I'm currently working on small goals to help with my recovery and I'm starting to take pride in these achievements, no matter how big or small they are!

2) Start Driving Lessons
Now that I've done my theory test, I just need to apply for my learner permit which I'm organising next week and then I can start looking into getting some driving lessons. I was feeling so anxious about driving and there were times when I was studying the theory where I was thinking "there's no way I'm going to be able to drive", but now I'm feeling way more confident about it and I can't wait to be able to drive!

3) Share More Lifestyle Content On My Blog & Instagram
One of my goals last year was to share more of me and my life on my blog and Insta, and I'm so pleased with the effort I made. I started sharing a few more photos of myself, a couple of outfit and lifestyle posts and I started writing longer captions and sharing a bit more about my day in Instagram captions last year. This year, I'd love to do even more of that!

I used to post a lot more personal and lifestyle content a few years ago but when my mental health started to get bad again in 2017, I took a step back from my blog. I find it hard to share photos of myself when my confidence is so low, and this is also the reason why I stopped posting chatty videos on Insta Stories as well. 

I'm hoping that by putting myself out there a little bit more and stepping out of my comfort zone with my blog, it'll help to build up my confidence. I haven't made a decision about my Insta Stories yet though, a part of me wants to post chatty videos again but another part of me doesn't feel ready, so I'll probably just focus on feeling better and revisit the idea in a few months.

4) Blog 1st & Instagram 2nd
Another blogging related goal that I have this year is to put primary focus on my blog and make Instagram my second priority. I love Instagram and it's much quicker and easier for me to post photos there than it is to put together a whole blog post. I end up putting way more time and effort into my Instagram posts than my blog but this year, I want to change that and spend more time writing posts.

5) Read 35 Books 
Last year I was in a bit of a reading funk and I didn't read as much as I'd wanted to. This year I want to spend less time watching Youtube and TV in favour of reading more. I've set my Goodreads reading challenge to 35 books and I've finished six books so far and hopefully, I can keep up the reading momentum!
