My Summer Evening Routine...

Evening everyone! I feel like a good evening routine is the foundation to getting a good night's sleep but in the summertime when the evenings are longer I end up feeling quite energised and motivated - not ideal for when you're trying to go to sleep at a decent hour, haha! A few months ago I shared my weekend morning routine and I'm really enjoying my current Summer evening routine so, for today's post, I wanted to share it...

Self-care is so important for mental well-being and one of my absolute favourite self-care activities is yoga. I always kick off my evening routine with a quick at-home yoga practice and you all probably know by now how much I love following Yoga With Adriene's videos. It's definitely harder to roll out my mat in the Summer, especially with the higher temperatures at the moment but even just doing a 10-minute practice makes me feel so much better after.

Around 6pm I have my dinner and at the moment, my favourite dinner recipe to make is this salmon recipe with a crumbly nutty topping that I found on Pinterest - so yummy!

Whilst I'm having dinner I usually upload my Instagram photo if it's a day where I'm posting and I try to comment on some of my favourite account's photos too. I used to post daily on Instagram but with bad engagement, I kinda fell out of love with it and stopped posting daily. However, I'm just making the most of Instagram at the moment and it's really changed my mindset about it, and I'm loving posting more often now! After dinner, I usually get cosy on the couch and work on some blog posts or photo editing.

I feel like I haven't stopped talking about my driving lessons lately but it's just such a big part of my life at the moment and it's a huge deal for me to be doing so well with it because it was something I was anxious about for a long time! I'm trying to get out most evenings to do a little bit of practice with my Mam to help build up my confidence with it and I usually head out around 7.45/ 8pm as usually, the traffic has quietened down a little by then. At the moment I'm working on roundabouts and it's something that I thought I would find difficult, but I feel more confident with the roundabouts compared to other parts of driving that I'm still trying to get the hang of. I probably won't be saying that when I'm at busier roundabouts though *insert laughing emojis*

My Beauty Routine...
I used to be a morning shower person but in recent months, I've switched to showering in the evenings instead and it's made such a difference to my daily routine. I can really go to town with the pampering products and make every evening a pamper night! An essential of mine for a pampering shower routine is a good body exfoliator and my favourite is Soap & Glory Smoothie Star Breakfast Scrub. It gently buffs away flaky skin leaving my arms and legs smooth for shorts and t-shirt weather and is formulated with nourishing ingredients including oat, shea butter, almond and honey extracts that help replenish the skin. And plus it smells like maple syrup - Yum!

Another beauty staple for achieving smooth summer-ready legs is the Soap & Glory Whipped Clean Shower Butter. I pop a little bit of this on my legs for shaving as it helps get a smooth shave and even though it's labelled as a shower cream, it's more like an in-shower moisturiser as it nourishes the skin so well!

Hair washing night is twice a week for me and my current hair care routine is pretty much the same as it was in my recent haircare routine post, except for the shampoo and conditioner. I used to love Aussie products but I hadn't used them in a few years so when I saw them on offer recently I decided to switch up my shampoo and conditioner combo. I went for the Miracle Shine range, which I've never tried before but I'm loving them! The pairing definitely adds a little shine to my frizzy lacklustre hair, leaves it feeling so clean and lightweight and the conditioner nourishes my dry ends too. I'll definitely be repurchasing them!

Evening skincare routine

For skincare, I'm still enjoying using my Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm for my first cleanse followed by the Origins Original Skin Cleansing Jelly for my second cleanse. I love double cleansing in the evenings and this combination has been so effective for me, leaving my skin not only feeling super clean but also nourished and plump too.

I've really simplified my skincare recently and I've noticed such a difference in my skin as a result, except for that time of the month when it seems to just do its own thing and have a freakout, haha! My simplified post-cleansing steps include the Origins Ginzing Moisturiser for hydration and some glow as well as the Sunday Riley UFO Oil which helps calm breakouts.

Two days a week I like to treat my skin to a mask for a deeper cleanse and some extra nourishment. My top picks at the moment are the Origins Out Of Trouble Mask followed by the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask

Winding Down...
I have a terrible habit of scrolling on my phone before bed and at the moment, I'm trying to make more of an effort to stop using it a certain amount of time before I want to go to sleep. My goal is to stop using it an hour before I go to sleep so at the moment I'm trying 15-20 minutes and I'll gradually increase it from there - you have to start somewhere, lol! I do really enjoy reading before bed but at the moment, I'm in a reading slump so I definitely need to order a few books from the library!

What does your Summer evening routine look like?
