A Few Home Comforts During Lockdown...

At this stage, I've lost track of how many weeks we've been in lockdown and it has reached that point where I never know what day it is. Please tell me I'm not the only one...

Although there are many things I miss and am looking forward to doing again when the restrictions start to ease, the one thing I'm not missing is the fast-paced, busy lifestyle. I'm enjoying slowing down and appreciating the small things in life... like the beautiful evening sunlight that shines into our dining nook, gilding the furniture in a dreamy golden hue, or getting lost in a magical fantasy tale, or spending a few extra minutes sipping my morning tea whilst daydreaming about my plans for the day ahead.

For today's post, I thought I'd share a little roundup of a few home comforts that have been keeping me going during lockdown...

1. Netflix Marathons:
My favourite way to unwind in the evenings is with a little Netflix marathon of a series (because you can't watch just one episode!) with the fairy lights twinkling in front of the tv - so cosy! - or settling down with a big bowl of popcorn to watch a film...after spending 20 minutes deciding on which one to watch *insert laughing emoji* My favourite film that we've watched during lockdown so far is All The Bright Places which is based on the book by Jennifer Niven. I read the book years ago so I was dying for the film to come out and I thought it was so good - an easy, light-hearted watch which is perfect right now. For tv series, I've been watching Virgin River and at first, I thought it was only ok but then a few episodes in it got so much better! Next In Fashion was another light viewing and if you're into fashion then you'll definitely love this!

2. Baking Sweet Treats:
I've spent many Sunday afternoons in the kitchen whipping up sweet treats to have with a cuppa and I've made weekend baking a goal for the rest of lockdown... and maybe even after it too! I'm really enjoying baking, I always find it so relaxing and I'd like to use the time to work on improving my cake and cupcake decorating skills. So far, I've made scones, mint brownies, chocolate caramel traybake and cookies so for my next bake I'm thinking cupcakes or a cake that I can decorate with pink icing maybe. A Pinterest browsing session to find a recipe is definitely on the cards before we do our weekly food shop!

3. Pamper:
I've been using the extra downtime I have to treat myself to a few extra pamper sessions throughout the week. Treating my hair, skin and nails to a little extra TLC uplifts my mood so I've been making an effort to use my favourite face masks, nourishing hair treatments, body moisturiser and nail painting. I think I'll do a full post about the products I'm enjoying at the moment but for now, here are a few that I've been reaching for recently...

I've rediscovered the Glossier Birthday Balm Dot Com, a clear lip balm with subtle shimmer particles helps make my lips feel smooth, look plump, it's a nice no makeup day option and it smells like vanilla cake - what more could you want from a lip balm, eh? I haven't used it in a while so I forgot how much I love it and it's tempting me to make a Glossier order. I have my eye on a few new bits like Futuredew and their mask set.

For masks, I've been using a clarifying/ resurfacing mask first such as the Origins Out Of Trouble and Origins Original Skin Retxtrusing masks followed by an overnight hydrating mask like the Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask and the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask and my skin has been thanking me for it! It has never felt so smooth or looked so bright and healthy before! And lastly, I've also been treating my under eye area to some extra hydration using the Good Molecules Caffeine Energising Hydrogel Eye Patches* which feel cooling and soothing, making my under eyes look a little bit fresher and brighter.

4. Daily walks:
Getting out for our daily walks has been keeping me positive on a daily basis and I always come home feeling refocused and calm. We've been so lucky with the weather being sunny most days since this all started so I've been making the most of it! We've been so restricted with a 2km walking/ driving limit so I'll never take the small things in life like being able to go for a walk wherever I want again.

What at-home activities have you been enjoying during lockdown?
